Cost effectiveness of interventions to improve adherence to statin therapy in ASCVD patients in the United States.
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the United States, and high cholesterol is a leading risk factor for CVD. While statins are effective at reducing cholesterol, they are frequently underused in patients at highest risk of CVD. The objective of this study was to identify interventions which may improve adherence to statins and to assess their cost effectiveness within the US Medicare population. ⋯ Some interventions to improve adherence have been shown to be effective, but little attention has been paid to the costs. Further studies on adherence interventions should include economic evaluations.

Factors Influencing Implementation Of Shared Medical Decision Making In Patients With Cancer.
Shared decision making promotes patient participation in medical decisions. This study aims to explore the decision-making situation and influencing factors in patients with cancer. ⋯ Improving health literacy is indispensable to promote patient participation in shared decision making in the highly professional medical field. Education level directly affects health literacy; therefore, in the future, providing disease-matching health education is crucial for patients with lower education levels to enhance their health literacy. Health literacy directly affects shared decision making; therefore, more active assistance in achieving patient health literacy is crucial to implement shared decision making.

Clinical evaluation of dimethyl fumarate for the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis: efficacy, safety, patient experience and adherence.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) is an oral disease-modifying therapy approved for management of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis patients. Results from phase 3 clinical trials (DEFINE, CONFIRM) and follow-up study (ENDORSE) have provided good evidence for its efficacy and safety profile. Patient-reported outcomes (PROs) assessment revealed stabilization or boost in health-related quality of life and work productivity of patients treated with DMF compared to placebo reflecting a higher patient satisfaction to therapy. ⋯ An increase in the real-world incidence of progressive multifocal leukoencephalopathy and liver abnormality cases is also concerning. Several prevention and mitigation strategies like patient counseling, dose up-titration, pretreatment with aspirin, use of symptomatic therapy and frequent blood monitoring have demonstrated to be effective in tackling these adverse effects and promoting adherence to DMF. In this article, we review the efficacy, safety, PROs and patient adhere data, along with various measures to manage adverse events and promote compliance.

Engaging patients and informal caregivers to improve safety and facilitate person- and family-centered care during transitions from hospital to home - a qualitative descriptive study.
Purpose: The purpose was to describe patients and informal caregivers' perspectives on how to improve and monitor care during transitions from hospital to home as part of a larger research study to prioritize the components that most influence the development of successful care transition interventions. Methods: We conducted a qualitative descriptive study between July and August 2016, during which time semi-structured telephone interviews (n=8) were completed with patients and informal caregivers across select Canadian provinces. Interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed and thematically analyzed. ⋯ Participants also provided suggestions on how to best monitor care transitions. Conclusion: This study highlighted the following strategies with patients and informal caregivers: focus on effective communication regarding important information; provide appropriate resources; and increase involvement. Future research is needed to incorporate the input from patients and informal caregivers into the design and implementation of care transition interventions.

Study On Potential Factors Of Patient Satisfaction: Based On Exploratory Factor Analysis.
To explore the potential common factors of patient satisfaction and the influencing factor of it. ⋯ Three potential factors can well explain patients' demands for the quality, price and convenience of medical services. According to social-demographic characteristics, people of different groups have different concerns. Medical reform departments should adjust policies according to the actual situation and promote the medical reform process.
