Preferences for Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus for Medications in Shandong Province, China: A Discrete Choice Experiment.
To evaluate preferences for medications among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) from urban community health stations or rural village clinics in Shandong province, China. ⋯ This study provides information on T2DM patients' preference for medications. Our results suggest that clinical doctors should present patients with a variety of pharmaceutical characteristics and include their preference into medication decision, which will improve patient adherence and health outcomes.

Feasibility of Testing Client Preferences for Accessing Injectable Opioid Agonist Treatment (iOAT): A Pilot Study.
Injectable opioid agonist treatment (iOAT) is an effective treatment for opioid use disorder (OUD). To our knowledge, no research has systematically studied client preferences for accessing iOAT. Incorporating preferences could help meet the heterogenous needs of clients and make addiction care more person-centred. This paper presents a pilot study of a best-worst scaling (BWS) preference elicitation survey that aimed to assess if the survey was feasible and accessible for our population and to test that the survey could gather sound data that would suit our planned analyses. ⋯ This pilot demonstrates the type of analysis that can be done with BWS in our population, suggests that such analysis is feasible, and highlights the importance of the interviewer and participant working side-by-side throughout the task.

Early Postnatal Care: Exploring Primary Caregivers' Experiences of Continuity of Care After Discharge at Selected Districts in Limpopo Province South Africa.
Early postnatal discharge is perceived as a factor that contributes to possible maternal, neonatal complications and deaths during the first week of delivery. Continuing with provision of home-based postnatal care by the primary caregivers is crucial to prevent morbidity and mortality. ⋯ Primary caregivers displayed acceptable indigenous skills and knowledge of providing early postnatal care. However, the skills of detecting potential danger signs were not adequately displayed. It was recommended that midwives need to create awareness to primary caregivers from the antenatal through postnatal care period. Community Health Workers to assist during immediate postnatal check-ups (mother and neonate) which is done within 72hours of delivery. The health education, counseling, and community-based awareness campaigns are to be done with a focus on the detection and prevention of possible complications to mother and baby.

Chronic disease prevention and management requires a lifelong commitment and adherence to lifestyle modifications, monitoring of symptoms, medication use, and other forms of therapy. Treatment adherence is a crucial and complex concept in patient care provision, and it requires the voluntary active involvement of patients for the best possible outcome. Multiple factors, which may or may not be under the patient's control, can influence treatment adherence. ⋯ Thus, this paper highlights the importance of promoting a sense of agency and integrating patients' values, beliefs, attitudes, and intentions during the provision of healthcare. It is indispensable to recognize the individual's ability and initiative to control and manage their illness in the face of challenging socioeconomic and cultural reality. On logical grounds, it is not enough to appreciate the value of free will and mental states, it is also essential to empower and cultivate an individual patient's willpower to make a well-informed, free decision based on their mental state for the most optimal treatment outcomes.

Exploring the Gap Between Patients' Expectations and Perceptions of Healthcare Service Quality.
This study aimed to explore the gap between patients' expectations of healthcare service quality in Jordanian hospitals against their perceptions of service received using SERVQUAL model. ⋯ Hospital managers should take necessary actions to improve healthcare services in their hospitals with respect to all SERVQUAL domains. These actions should be directed to reduce the gap between patients' expectation and their perceptions in order to provide services meet patients' needs.
