To determine and compare the prevalence of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms among male and female medical students in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia and evaluate the effect of ADHD on the academic performance of the affected medical students. ⋯ The study demonstrated a higher prevalence of adult ADHD among medical students in the Eastern Province than the reported rates locally and globally. This could be attributed to social and cultural factors, as well as the chosen method for assessing the symptoms of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual items.

To assess the prevalence, risk factors, and associated complications of pneumothorax that are present in patients with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) at our institution and to provide an updated local study addressing the association between pneumothorax and HIV. ⋯ Pneumothorax in patients with HIV is a manifestation of the progression of the disease and its poor outcome. It has a complicated treatment course and a high mortality rate.

Echinococcosis is a parasitic infection that is distributed worldwide. Its clinical presentation depends on the size and location of the cyst. A 7-year-old was found with a superimposed infected pulmonary hydatid cyst that was initially misdiagnosed as complicated pneumonia. Our case underscores the challenges of diagnosing and managing echinococcosis, emphasizes the need for a high index of suspicion, and describes the disease's ability to mimic other clinical entities.

To explore the prognostic influence of weight loss (WL) on young overweight/obesity (OW/OB) individuals with heart failure (HF). ⋯ Significant WL may correlate with favorable prognosis in OW/OB young HF patients.
