Diagnostic accuracy of cervical elastography for predicting preterm delivery: Systematic review and meta-analysis.
Cervical elastography has been used in pregnant women to diagnose preterm births. However, there is a variability in the measured elasticity parameters and imaging mode used. We evaluated the precision of cervical elastography in identifying preterm births. ⋯ Cervical elastography can be used for predicting preterm deliveries with moderate to high level of accuracy.

Effect of prehospital intubation on mortality rates in patients with traumatic brain injury: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
It is unclear if prehospital intubation improves survival in patients with traumatic brain injury. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess the impact of prehospital intubation on mortality rates of traumatic brain injury. ⋯ Heterogeneous data from mostly observational studies demonstrates higher mortality rates among traumatic brain injury patients receiving prehospital intubation. The efficacy of prehospital intubation is difficult to judge without taking into account multiple confounding factors.

Effect of weekend admission on mortality risk in patients with sepsis and septic shock: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
There is an ongoing debate if weekend admissions of critically ill patients are associated with higher mortality rates. The current review aimed to specifically assess this effect in sepsis and septic shock patients by comparing mortality rates with weekend versus weekday admissions. ⋯ Weekend admission does not have an adverse impact on mortality rates of sepsis and septic shock patients. Results must be interpreted with caution owing to high interstudy heterogeneity and variation in confounders adjusted by individual studies.

Association between C-reactive protein levels and development of post-stroke depression: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Different prospective cohort studies have focused on the C-reactive protein (ie, a pentameric protein) biomarker as a predictor of post-stroke depression. In this review and meta-analysis, we will attempt to synthesize the evidence for the association between C-reactive protein and the development of post-stroke depression. ⋯ Our findings provide an association of C-reactive protein with the development of post-stroke depression, and present higher levels than patients with stroke without depression. Additionally, our findings support the role of C-reactive protein levels as markers for predicting depression in patients with stroke.

Predicting prognosis of heart failure using common malnutrition assessment tools: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
COUNT score, PNI score, and GNRI scores are associated with cardiovascular events. This review identifies the most accurate malnutrition assessment tools based on these scores in predicting mortality and readmission outcomes in HF patients. ⋯ CONUT and GNRI are the superior prognostic indicator than PNI in prediction of mortality associated with risk of malnutrition.
