Pulmonary vasculitis is a group of rapidly progressing severe diseases characterized by vascular inflammation, destruction and necrosis of the pulmonary tissue. The pathological process in the lungs varies from diffuse alveolar hemorrhage to inflammation of the parenchyma, pleural effusion, thrombotic and thromboembolic complications. Depending on the size of the affected vessels, vasculites are divided into vasculites of large, medium and small vessels. ⋯ Clinical examination of other systems and organs involved in the pathological process, including the skin and kidneys, as well as the detection of autoantibodies can improve approaches to early diagnosis and treatment of vasculitis. Treatment of life-threatening pulmonary bleeding and irreversible damage to organs, especially the kidneys, requires rapid diagnosis of these conditions. Vasculitis is a rare disease with lesions of many organs, and methods of their treatment, including biological, are rapidly developing, which requires the cooperation of doctors of various specialties and specialized centers to achieve better control of the disease.

Chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and C (CHC) are one of the leading causes of cirrhosis and liver cancer with over a million of people dying annually from their consequences. In Russia CHB and CHC morbidity and related mortality show an upward trend. As a result of recent breakthroughs in antiviral therapeutics CHC became a curable disease. ⋯ However, complete elimination of the virus is possible only using technologies of genome editing, capable of specific cccDNA degradation. Nuclease systems are currently at their early stages of development, and there is a long way to prove their efficacy and safety. Nevertheless, highly promising results of the recent years leave no doubt that CRISPR/Cas systems and similar technologies can become the basis of CHB therapy.

[Anemic syndrome in rheumatoid arthritis: Diagnostic approaches and treatment opportunities].
Anemia of chronic disease (ACD) is a leading cause of anemic syndrome in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA). Enhanced hepcidin production mainly stimulated by excess interleukin-6 levels is a key pathodgentic component of ACD (frequently known as anemia of inflammation) by causing the degradation of the transmembrane protein ferroportin, hepcidin impairs iron metabolism. On the basis of the material of recent publications the review gives present-day views on the pathodgenesis of ACD in RA, approaches to the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of ACD, especially in its concomitance with iron-deficiency anemia, as well as approaches to therapy for the type of anemic syndrome with the complex mechanism for its development.

It outlines the possible ways of developing this area in Russian medicine to solve crucial scientific and practical tasks.

The paper reviews the literature on studies of the structural and functional properties of great arteries in patients with cardiovascular diseases. It analyses the pathophysiological components of the formation of central blood pressure (BP) and describes current registration procedures. The negative aspects of the impact of elevated central BP on target organs are considered. The prognostic and clinical values of the indicators of central arterial stiffness are demonstrated.
