While C-reactive protein (CRP) is a well-studied marker for predicting treatment response and mortality in sepsis, it was aimed to assess the efficacy of the neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as a predictor of mortality and treatment response in sepsis patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ The NLR can predict mortality and antibiotic responsiveness in ICU patients with sepsis and septic shock. If the NLR is >15 on the 3rd day of postantibiotic initiation, the risk of mortality is high and treatment should be reviewed carefully.

Observational Study
The frequency of Raynaud’s phenomenon in patients with methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase gene mutation and hyperhomocysteinemia.
Raynaud’s phenomenon (RP) is not a rare health problem; global prevalence is about 3%–20%. Etiology and pathophysiology of this pathology has not been clarified. There are many precipitating factors resulting in RP. Hyperhomocysteinemia resulting from methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene mutationmay have a role in its etiology. The aim of this study was to observe the frequency of RP in patients with MTFHR gene mutation and hyperhomocysteinemia. Possible relationships among vitamin B12, folic acid, complete blood count (leukocytes and platelets), and c-reactive protein levels and RP were also analyzed. ⋯ RP was more frequently observed in the groups with the MTHFR mutation and hyperhomocysteinemia. Serum homocysteine levels in patients with RP may be helpful for diagnosis.

The increasing number of lung diseases and particularly pulmonary malignancies has intensified the need for diverse interventions in the field of interventional pulmonology. In recent years we have seen many new developments and expanding applications in the field of interventional pulmonology. This has resulted in an increased number and variety of performed procedures and differing approaches. The purpose of the present study is to provide information on patient characteristics, range of interventions, complication rates, and the evolving approach of an experienced center for interventional pulmonology. ⋯ Interventional bronchoscopy is an invasive but considerably safe and efficient procedure for selected cases and effective treatment modality for airway obstructions, massive hemoptysis, and foreign body aspiration. Interventional pulmonology is a field of pulmonary medicine that needs effort to progress and provide an opportunity to witness relevant developments, and increase the number of competent physicians and centers.

To investigate the relationship between subfertility etiologies and success rates in controlled ovarian stimulation and intrauterine insemination (COS–IUI) cycles. ⋯ The success rate of the mild male subfertility group following COS–IUI cycles for live birth rates was similar to those of the endometriosis and unexplained subfertility groups.

This study was designed to investigate the relationship between kinesiophobia and the level of physical activity, depression, disease activity, fatigue, pain, and quality of life in female patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). ⋯ As a result of this study, the majority of SLE patients included in the study were identified as having high levels of kinesiophobia. Patients’ fear and avoidance reaction from movement can be influenced by psychosocial factors. Treatments focusing on kinesiophobia of SLE patients could be beneficial in increasing the success of rehabilitation.
