Quorum sensing (QS) is a chemical communication process that bacteria use to regulate virulence. Inhibition of QS (antiQS) overcomes the pathogenicity of bacteria. Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) have been used as antimicrobials against pathogens, but have not been used against QS-mediated bacterial infection. Also, studies have been carried out on the inhibitory effects of propolis based structures on pathogen growth, but no studies have been found on their potential use as QS inhibitor. The present study aims to investigate the synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) reduced with propolis extract (P–AgNPs) and evaluation of their antimicrobial and, for the first time, antiQS activity. ⋯ Our results suggest that P–AgNPs may be potentially used to inhibit bacterial physiological processes due to the signal molecules regulates important collective behavior of bacteria. The development of such nontoxic biomaterials may have great potential to evaluate for the new medicinal substance that inhibits the pathogenic biofilms.

In the literature, there is a paucity of data about the effects of fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS) on myocardial function and electrophysiological properties of atrium and ventricles. In this study, we investigated cardiac functions and noninvasive predictors of arrhythmias in patients with FMS. ⋯ FMS is found to be associated with significant cardiac electrical alterations that may indicate the increased risk of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias in this group of patients.

Comparing the complications of laparoscopically performed simple, radical and donor nephrectomy.
The aim of this study was to compare the complications of laparoscopic simple, radical and donor nephrectomies performed in a single center. ⋯ In this study, the frequency of complications in LRN procedures was found to be higher than the LSN and LDN procedures. Patients with LRN may have more adverse health conditions before the operation. Considering the results of this study, variables such as patient and hospital characteristics, surgeon experience and skills should be evaluated in future studies. In addition, it is important to determine the frequency of complications using a standardized classification in order to enable correct interpretation of results.

To emphasize the role of cochlear implantation (CI) in the auditory rehabilitation of patients with otosclerosis (OS) and share our surgical experiences on this rare group of patients. ⋯ Our experience on CI in patients with OS revealed that the implantation was a relatively safe procedure and had satisfactory impact on audiological performances.

The usual course of Thorax CT findings of Covid-19 infection and When should control Thorax CT scan?
COVID-19 infection, a highly contagious disease caused by the SARS-CoV virus, and the World Health Organization declared this increasingly spreading disease as a global public health emergency (pandemic). In the diagnosis of COVID-19, the polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) is considered as the reference standard test. In the early stages, thorax CT findings could be present even before the onset of symptoms, thorax CT has quite high sensitivity in COVID-19 patients with false negative RT-PCR results, and it has a great importance not only in diagnosis but also in follow up. We think that it might be beneficial for our radiologist colleagues in the early diagnosis of the imaging features of this disease, by sharing the experiences we have gained by evaluating the typical and relatively atypical CT findings regarding the natural course of the tomographic findings of COVID-19 and when to control CT.
