This study aims to reveal the prevalence of low handgrip strength in older patients with type 2 diabetes who have diabetic foot disease and to assess the association of handgrip strength with diabetic foot disease in older patients with type 2 diabetes. ⋯ Older patients with type 2 diabetes and diabetic foot disease had a higher rate of low handgrip strength. Low handgrip strength was significantly associated with the occurrence of diabetic foot ulcers and directly correlated with Wagner score in geriatric patients with type 2 diabetes.

Familial Mediterranean fever [FMF] is the most common autoinflammatory disease characterized by inflammatory attacks of fever and polyserositis. Patients' quality of life is significantly affected due to recurrent excruciating pain attacks and complications. Acute pancreatitis is a clinical picture with a wide range of symptoms from mild inflammation to multiorgan failure and death. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of Adalimumab (ADA) on inflammation and apoptosis in a cerulein-induced acute pancreatitis model in rats. ⋯ : It has been determined that the administration of high-dose ADA effectively alleviated the symptoms of acute pancreatitis and reduced the level of apoptosis. In line with the findings of our study, we have predicted that high-dose (20 mg/kg) ADA can be used as an effective and safe drug in the treatment of patients with acute pancreatitis.

The objectives were to define the distribution of rheumatic diseases in patients with erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) ≥ 100 mm/h and to find variables that can differentiate main study groups from others. ⋯ Extremely high ESR is still a valuable clinical parameter, and rheumatic causes are significant besides malignancy and infections. Albumin, thrombocyte count, and ferritin are other tests that clinicians should consider when caring for a patient with ESR ≥ 100 mm/h who has rheumatic disease.

Recognizing frailty had a great importance in countries with an increasing geriatric population. The study aims to evaluate the reliability and validation of the Gérontopôle frailty screening tool (GFST), which was developed to screen frailty in the community-dwelling older adults, for the Turkish population. ⋯ The Gérontopôle frailty screening tool, which can be used by all healthcare professionals, is a valid and reliable tool for the Turkish geriatric population.
