Despite advancements in valve technology and increased clinical experience, complications related to conduction defects after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVR) have not improved as rapidly as expected. In this study, we aimed to predict the development of complete atrioventricular (AV) block and bundle branch block during and after the TAVR procedure and to investigate any changes in the cardiac conduction system before and after the procedure using electrophysiological study. ⋯ The prolongation of HV interval in patients with AV block and bundle branch block suggests that the block predominantly occurs at the infra-hisian level. Patients with longer preprocedural HV intervals should be closely monitored for the need for permanent pacemaker implantation after the TAVR procedure.

Older adults tend to have more urinary tract infections (UTIs). The frequency of recurrent lower urinary tract infections (rLUTIs) increases with age. rLUTIs are associated with long-term chronic effects on geriatric syndromes in older adults. We aimed to investigate possible risk factors that influence rLUTIs in older adults based on comprehensive geriatric assessment (CGA). ⋯ We revealed that decreased HGS, higher GDS, and the number of comorbidities in older women were independent risk factors for rLUTIs. Our findings offer a new perspective on the importance of CGA in diagnosing and preventing rLUTIs.

Dental caries is a frequently occurring and multifactorial chronic disease in children resulting from the interaction of cariogenic bacteria and host susceptibility. The aim of this study was to elucidate the impacts of primary immunodeficiency disorders (PIDs) on microbiota of dental caries in children by 16S rRNA gene-based metagenomic analysis. ⋯ This study provided insight into the caries microbiota of children with immunodeficiency diseases. Differentially abundant species, novel bacterial associations, and unique bacterial species were disclosed in the PID samples, indicating the role of the immune system in altering the caries microbiota. The prominent bacterial species and associations in the PID group should be suspected in regard to their link with present or future diseases.

The aim of this study was to develop a gestational diabetes risk assessment scale (GEDRISK). ⋯ The GEDRISK scale was found to be a valid and reliable tool for the measurement of gestational diabetes risk in a sample of the Turkish population.

Comparison of craniotomy and limited membranectomy with conventional techniques in the treatment of chronic subdural hematoma.
Chronic subdural hematoma is the most frequently operated on intracranial hemorrhage worldwide. Although surgical results are satisfactory, recurrence remains an important problem. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate patients who underwent craniotomy with limited membranectomy (CwLM) in terms of recurrence rate and other complications. ⋯ It is our belief that CwLM will be an appropriate treatment approach in suitable patients (radiologically detected) in chronic subdural hematoma, where recurrence is an important problem.
