The prediction of adverse conditions in the preterm neonatal brain might be improved by cerebral monitoring using combined measures of cerebral function, including oxygenation and blood flow parameters. To perform the consecutive measurements of the resistive index (RI) from the anterior cerebral artery (ACA) within the first week of life and to evaluate the association of these measurements with cerebral oxygen saturation (Csat) detected by near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS). ⋯ There was no association between ACA RI and Csat in the early period of life. ACA RI values on the first postnatal day might be significant for predicting early mortality in very preterm infants.

Elder abuse is among the most important ethical issue during the management of older population. The elder abuse suspicion index (EASI) was developed for evaluating abuse in older adults. We aimed to assess the reliability and validity of the Turkish version EASI-Türkiye (TR) among older adults. ⋯ The EASI-TR appears to have acceptable reliability and validity in screening for abuse in older adults. This tool may recognize cases that require additional evaluation in managing of ethical issues.

The significance of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPL) is controversial in Takayasu arteritis (TA). This study was conducted to explore the frequency of aPL and their association with disease-related complications in TA. ⋯ Our results indicate that aPL positivity is not rare in TA. On the other hand, all aPL titers were low and no differences were found in the frequency of disease-related complications between aPL(+) and aPL(-) patient groups. Only TA patients with atypical manifestations with high suspicion of aPL-related complications should be considered to be investigated for aPL.

: Rotator cuff rupture (RCR) and glenohumeral osteoarthritis (GHO) are two common disorders of the shoulder joint. However, there are very few reports that examine the relationship between them. This study aimed to present at least two years' clinical results of arthroscopic rotator cuff repair of full-thickness and massive tears accompanied by arthroscopically detected early-stage osteoarthritis. ⋯ To the best of our knowledge, this is one of the first arthroscopic comparative studies about the effect of early glenohumeral osteoarthritis on clinical outcomes after rotator cuff tear treatment. Finding good and excellent results up to 71% after RCR repair in patients with early-stage osteoarthritis was an indication that arthroscopic repair could be planned as the first-line treatment option for RCR pathologies in patients with early-stage degenerative arthritis without considering the rerupture rate.

: Transbronchial lung cryobiopsy (TBLC) is a minimally invasive technique of the diagnosis of diffuse parenchymal lung diseases (DPLD). The aim of this study is to determine the clinical-radiological and histopathological characteristics of patients in whom cryobiopsy contributes to the diagnosis. ⋯ We found the overall diagnostic yield of TBLC high. The pretest clinical-radiological diagnosis was often compatible with the multidisciplinary final diagnosis. However, TBLC is useful for the confirmation of clinical radiological diagnosis as well as clinical entities such as NSIP which is difficult to diagnose clinical-radiological. We also suggest that TBLC should be considered in patients whose clinicopathological IPF diagnosis is not precise.
