Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) possesses well-described photosensitizing properties, and a causal association with nonmelanoma skin cancer (NMSC) was recently shown. However, previous studies have not shown whether HCTZ use is associated with the risk of recurrence of basal cell carcinoma (BCC) or squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). This study aims to investigate the association between HCTZ use and recurrence in patients with NMSC. ⋯ HCTZ use is significantly associated with BCC recurrences. Especially in the elderly population, cases with a positive margin should be followed closely.

Gastrointestinal health is essential for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Improving nutrient absorption and energy metabolism are the critical targets for intestinal health. This study aimed to determine the effects of different boron (B) derivatives on nutrient digestibility, intestinal nutrient transporters, and lipid metabolism in rats. ⋯ SPP and BA administration enhanced nutrient digestibility, intestinal nutrient transporters, and liver lipid metabolism in rats.

To describe the disease activity and retention rate in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with inadequate response (IR) to conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (csDMARDs) and/or tumor necrosis factor inhibitors (TNFis) who were prescribed tocilizumab (TCZ) as first-line or second-line biologic treatment in real-world setting. ⋯ TCZ was found to be effective and safe in RA patients with IR to csDMARDs and/or TNFis. The drug retention rate was considered satisfactory with more than half of the patients continuing TCZ treatment at Month 12.

Considering its early bactericidal activity, isoniazid (H) is an important first-line agent in tuberculosis (TB) treatment. The aim of this study was to evaluate the treatment regimens and results of H-resistant pulmonary TB patients. ⋯ Our study results show higher treatment success and positive results with the treatment regimen containing FQ and that treatment with HREZ for nine months is associated with a lower treatment success rate.

Disease-modifying treatments (DMT) are used to prevent future relapses and disability. High long-term adherence to treatment is important to achieve disease control. This study aims to investigate and compare adherence, adverse event (AE) profiles, and frequencies, main reasons for treatment discontinuation under Teriflunomide (TERI), Dimethyl Fumarate (DMF), and Fingolimod (FNG) for relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) patients. This study is designed to explore patient-reported experiences in real-life settings. ⋯ Overall treatment discontinuation because of AEs is as low as 10.3% in this study. However, AEs are still the main reason for treatment drop-out.
