The aim of this study is to evaluate the performance of contrast-enhanced mammography (CEM) and dynamic breast MRI techniques for diagnosing breast lesions, assess the diagnostic accuracy of CEM's using histopathological findings, and compare lesion size measurements obtained from both methods with pathological size. ⋯ CEM can be used with high sensitivity and similar diagnostic performance comparable to MRI for diagnosing breast cancer. CEM proves to be a successful diagnostic method for precisely determining tumor size.

Thoracic paravertebral block (TPVB) is a well-established procedure for the management of postoperative pain in patients undergoing video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS). In recent years, there have been studies suggesting that fascial plane blocks may be an alternative to TPVB. The objective of our study was to determine the efficacy of combined deep and superficial serratus anterior block (C-SAPB) as an alternative to TPVB in the management of postoperative analgesia in VATS. ⋯ Similar analgesic efficacy was observed between C-SAPB and TPVB. TPVB maintains its place among the first choices in VATS. The efficacy of C-SAPB is comparable to that of TPVB. While the duration of C-SAPB application is not a significant factor, the brief nature of the procedure and its straightforward administration suggest that it may be an effective method.

In this prospective study, we aimed to investigate the association of serum (s) and urine (u) IP-10, galectin-9, and SIGLEC-1 with disease activity in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). ⋯ sIP-10, uIP-10, sGalectin-9, and uSIGLEC-1 reflect global disease activity in SLE but do not outperform C3 and C4. sIP-10 and uIP-10 may be specific for active SLE compared to active AAV. sIP-10 and sGalectin-9 might be valuable in monitoring response after treatment.

Although seasonal human coronaviruses (HCoVs) have long been recognized as respiratory tract viruses, the newly identified SARS-CoV-2 caused a pandemic associated with severe respiratory failure. We aimed to evaluate the incidence of COVID-19 infection in patients diagnosed in three tertiary teaching hospitals, both with and without prior confirmed HCoV infection, and to compare these cohorts in terms of COVID-19 contraction. ⋯ Being previously infected with HCoV did not provide protection against COVID-19 in our study group. We suggest evaluating the possible effect of previous OC43 infection on COVID-19 contraction in larger cohorts.

Comparison of double-port laparoscopic-assisted extracorporeal suture technique and open surgical repair for Morgagni hernia.
We aimed to compare the results of open surgery and double-port laparoscopic-assisted extracorporeal suturing repair for the treatment of Morgagni hernia (MH). ⋯ Double-port laparoscopic-assisted extracorporeal suturing repair is a reliable technique preferred over open surgical repair due to its shorter operative time and hospital stay, ease of application, better cosmetic results, and no cost difference.
