In this study, besides the evaluation of gray and white matter changes in cognitively normal Parkinson's disease (PD-CN) patients with volumetric magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters, it was tried to show that some neuropsychological tests may be impaired in PD-CN patients. ⋯ Significant MRI volumetric measurements and neuropsychological test batteries can be helpful in the clinical follow-up in PD-CN patients.

Despite advancements in surgical methodologies and the extensive perioperative and postoperative care administered to recipients, the prevalence of complications requiring early relaparotomy following living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) remains persistent. This study sought to analyze the determinants influencing relaparotomy occurrences in the initial 30 days following LDLT. Additionally, it was aimed to evaluate the impact of early laparotomy on both graft and patient survival within this distinct patient cohort. ⋯ The primary causes of early relaparotomy following LDLT include postoperative bleeding, biliary leakage, and vascular complications. Preoperative elevation in creatinine and sodium levels, the presence of Budd-Chiari syndrome, utilization of a left lobe graft, and intraoperative blood loss are identified as risk factors associated with early relaparotomy after LDLT. Patients undergoing early relaparotomy exhibit inferior survival rates compared to those who do not.

This study assessed the impact of intraoperative microvascular Doppler ultrasonography (MDU) during microsurgical subinguinal varicocele correction in children. ⋯ The use of MDU during subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy in children not only increases the success rate but also minimizes complications such as hydrocele and recurrence.

Traumatic spinal cord injury (TSCI) is an important health problem, especially in developing countries with additional socioeconomic loss. Humic acid (HA) usually has antioxidant, antiinflammatory, blood circulating, and antiviral effects. Hence, it was aimed herein to show the effect of HA on neuroprotection in a TSCI model. ⋯ The effects of HA in the early stages of TSCI on oxidative stress, histopathological changes, and neurological improvement were investigated herein. It is thought to be a potential therapeutic agent in acute TSCI but needs to be further evaluated to determine the extent of its effect on other neuroprotective pathways in larger series.

Microbiota awareness, nutritional literacy, and health literacy levels in adolescents have a significant impact on their health and well-being. This research was conducted to examine the relationship between microbiota awareness, nutrition literacy, and health literacy in adolescents. ⋯ Microbiota awareness increased as health literacy and nutrition literacy increased. In the machine learning approach prediction, the most important variables affecting microbiota awareness were health literacy and nutritional literacy. Longitudinal studies on microbiota awareness are recommended.
