The epidemiological data on heart failure (HF) vary between regions within the same country. We aimed to investigate the epidemiological data on HF in Türkiye across all age groups regarding seven geographical regions. ⋯ Despite regional variations, prevalence of HF in Türkiye's regions aligns with global trends. Sex-based differences in HF prevalence were evident across all age groups, including pediatric population. Incidence rates of HF in each region exhibited a substantial decline by 2021.

Association between papillary thyroid cancer and XRCC6 gene polymorphisms in the Turkish population.
To investigate the association between the rs2267437, rs5751129 and rs132770 polymorphisms of the XRCC6 gene, which plays a role in repairing DNA double-strand breaks, and the risk of papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). ⋯ This study demonstrated that rs2267437 polymorphism may have a protective effect against PTC in the Turkish population. However, the rs5751129 and rs132770 polymorphisms were not associated with the disease.

The frequency of potentially inappropriate medication usage in community-dwelling oldest-old people.
It is critically important to protect the health of the oldest-old people, as their hospitalization and death rates are high. The objective of this study was to analyze the prevalence of potentially inappropriate medication use among the community-dwelling oldest-old people and its association with their demographic characteristics. ⋯ The prevalence of potentially inappropriate medication use was high among the oldest-old people in Turkiye. There were no differences in frequency of use according to age, sex, or geographical region. It is important to prevent the use of potentially inappropriate medications that should be avoided and to monitor the oldest-old group that uses potentially inappropriate medications that should be used with caution.

Mucinous breast carcinoma (MBC) is thought to be a favorable-differentiated form of invasive breast cancer and is rarely preferred for neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC). The study aimed to define the response of MBCs to NAC. ⋯ It may be concluded that NAC is not sufficiently effective in either helping to diminish the need for mastectomy by downsizing the tumor, or in preventing axillary clearance in MBCs, and no significant benefit on survival could be observed. In addition, the results may emphasize the importance of identifying the MBC subtype, and the significant association between the degree of response to NAC and the subtype.

Melanoma is one of the most aggressive cancers and treatment methods commonly used for patients with skin cancer include checkpoint and BRAF/MEK inhibitors, traditional chemotherapy drugs, radiation, and adjuvant treatment methods. Due to the resistance and toxic effects that patients develop against the drugs, an effective treatment method has not been developed for melanoma yet. In this study we evaluated the anticancer effect of usnic acid (UA) on A-375 melanoma cells and human epidermal melanocytes using the xCELLigence real-time cell analysis system. ⋯ As a result of the obtained findings, it could be concluded that UA might be a promising candidate drug molecule for melanoma treatment in the future through topical application or encapsulation with nanocarriers.
