[Exponential use of social media in medicine: example of the interest of Twitter(©) in urology].
Social media (#SoMe) has changed the face of modern medicine. Our purpose was to asses the potential interest of Twitter in the field of urology. ⋯ Physicians need to respect the rules for a wise use of #SoMe in order not to break the Hippocratic Oath. There is a revolution around #SoMe and Twitter in the spread of scientific knowledge and academic teaching. International urologists are already committed in this evolution and France should also get involved.

Ischemia reperfusion injury occurs in the kidney when blood supply is interrupted in clinical settings such as kidney transplantation or nephron sparing surgery for renal tumors. These lesions lead to acute kidney injury (AKI) a detrimental situation associated with impaired short-term allograft function (delayed graft function or primary non function) but also long-term transplant survival through the onset of chronic allograft nephropathy. The present review details the cellular and molecular consequences of ischemia reperfusion in a native kidney as well as in a kidney graft after cold ischemia time, giving a comprehensive description of biological pathways involved during the phase of ischemia and during the reperfusion period where the rapid return to normoxia leads to a large burst of reactive oxygen species along with a dramatic reduction in antioxidant defenses. This work also focuses on the distinct susceptibilities of kidney cells to ischemia (endothelial vs epithelial) and the outcome of acute kidney injury.

Prostatitis is easily diagnosed but sometimes associated with PSA measurement. An increased PSA in an asymptomatic patient may be associated with antibiotic use to eliminate the inflammatory part and to confirm prostate biopsy. It seems interesting to confirm or infirm these attitudes with a systematic review of the literature ⋯ PSA is unnecessary in case of febrile urinary tract infection in men.

Priapism is a rare condition for which urgent diagnosis and treatment is required. This paper reviews the literature regarding ischaemic, non-ischaemic and stuttering priapism in order to provide management recommendations. ⋯ Priapism is a potentially severe condition that requires urgent diagnosis and well-defined sequential management to prevent treatment delay, complications and irreversible erectile dysfunction.
