Choose the appropriate implantation position of the Femoral Neck System in the femoral neck: a finite-element analysis.
There is no specific literature on the best implantation position of the Femoral Neck System (FNS) for treating Pauwels type III femoral neck fracture in young adults. ⋯ In operations, when the implantation position of the central guide wire is not at the center of the femoral neck but slightly lower, it is recommended not to adjust the wire repeatedly in pursuit of the center position; for femoral neck fractures that are extremely unstable at the fracture end or require revision, the insertion strategy of FNS in the low position combined with CS can be adopted to obtain better fixation effects.

Characteristics of multi-ligament knee injuries accompanied with patellar tendon disruption.
Patella tendon rupture with multi-ligament injury is a rare injury. We observed patients with patella tendon rupture (or patella inferior pole fracture) with multi-ligament injury. This study intends to inspect the mechanism of the injury and classify them. ⋯ Patella tendon rupture with multi-ligament injury can be classified into low energy rotational injury and high energy dashboard injury. Two-staged surgery is the basis of treatment.

The goals of care in acute setting for geriatric patients in case of a hip fracture.
For geriatric hip fracture patients, the decision between surgery and palliative, non-operative management is made through shared decision making (SDM). For this conversation, a physician must be familiar with the patient's goals of care (GOC). These are predominantly unknown for hip fracture patients and challenging to assess in acute setting. The objective was to explore these GOC of geriatric patients in case of a hip fracture. ⋯ All groups scored preserving cognitive function, being with family and being with partner among the most important GOC. The most important GOC should be discussed when a patient is presented with a hip fracture. Since patients preferences vary, a patient-centered assessment of the GOC remains essential.

Validation of registries is important to ensure accuracy of data and registry-based research. This is often done by comparisons of the original registry data with other sources, e.g. another registry or a re-registration of data. Founded in 2011, the Swedish Trauma Registry (SweTrau) consists of variables based on international consensus (the Utstein Template of Trauma). This project aimed to perform the first validation of SweTrau. ⋯ The validity of SweTrau is good, with high accuracy, correctness, data completeness and correlation. The data are comparable to other trauma registries using the Utstein Template of Trauma; however, timeliness and case completeness are areas of improvement.

The association of radiologic body composition parameters with clinical outcomes in level-1 trauma patients.
The present study aims to assess whether CT-derived muscle mass, muscle density, and visceral fat mass are associated with in-hospital complications and clinical outcome in level-1 trauma patients. ⋯ In level-1 trauma patients without severe neurological injuries, automatically derived body composition parameters are able to independently predict an increased risk of specific complications and other poor outcomes.
