To provide an overview of phantom limb pain (PLP) in China. This includes the prevalence of PLP and possible risk factors. ⋯ PLP has markedly affected the lives of patients. Pre-amputation pain and postoperative epidural analgesia might be risk factors for the phantom limb pain after amputation. Prevention of pre-amputation pain and sudden post-amputation deafferentation should be recommended to the amputees.

To evaluate changes in intraocular pressure (IOP) and intracerebral pressure (ICP) reflected by the optic nerve sheath diameter (ONSD) in patients undergoing robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP) in permanent 45° steep Trendelenburg position (STP). ⋯ The combination of STP and capnoperitoneum during RALP has a pronounced influence on IOP and, to a lesser degree, on ICP. IOP is directly correlated with increasing PIP and MAP. IOP doubled and the ONSD rose to values indicating increased intracranial pressure. Differences in the ONSD were age-related, showing higher output values as well as better autoregulation and compliance in STP for patients aged <63 years. Despite several ocular changes during RALP, visual function was not significantly impaired postoperatively.

Aim of this study was to identify factors associated with patients using the internet to find information about their upcoming surgery in general, and more specifically about anaesthesia. ⋯ Only few patients used the internet to obtain information about their upcoming procedure and the anaesthetic part played an even smaller role. However, many patients would have appreciated guidance to find trustworthy internet sites.

While most Direct laryngoscopy leads to dental injury in 25-39% of cases. Dental injury occurs when the forces and impacts applied to the teeth exceed the ability of the structures to dissipate energy and stress. The purpose of this study was to measure strain, (which is the change produced in the length of the tooth by a force applied to the tooth) strain rate, and strain-time integral to the maxillary incisors and determine if they varied by experience, type of blade, or use of an alcohol protective pad (APP). ⋯ Strain varies widely by intubator and that the use of the APP reduces strain rate which may decrease the risk of or the severity of dental injury.

Combined spinal-epidural anesthesia for cesarean delivery in a patient with cor triloculare biventriculare.
Cor triloculare biventriculare accounts for approximately 0.31% of cases of congenital heart disease (CHD). Moreover, people with cor triloculare biventriculare always have shorter life spans, and cases of gestation are rare. There have been various related reports of cor triloculare biventriculare in recent years. ⋯ Combined spinal-epidural anesthesia was administered to a patient with cor triloculare biventricularethis with good effect, ensuring the patient's safety and meeting the need for emergency surgery.
