Effects of anesthetic depth on perioperative T lymphocyte subsets in patients undergoing laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery: a prospective, parallel-controlled randomized trial.
During the perioperative period, the surgical stress response induced by surgical trauma tends to cause a decrease in peripheral lymphocytes. Anesthetics could reduce the stress response during surgery and prevent sympathetic nerve overexcitation. The goal of this study was to investigate how BIS-guided anesthetic depth affected peripheral T lymphocytes in patients undergoing laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery. ⋯ Despite the fact that patients in deep general anesthesia group had low levels of the IL-6 24 h after surgery, the deep general anesthesia was not associated to a positive effect on patients' peripheral T lymphocytes during colorectal cancer surgery. We found no evidence that peripheral T lymphocyte subsets and natural killer cells were affected by the targeting a BIS of either 55 or 35 in patients undergoing laparoscopic colorectal cancer surgery in this trial.

Patients receiving surgical treatment of acute type A Aortic Dissection (aTAAD) are common to suffer organ dysfunction in the intensive care unit due to overwhelming inflammation. Previous studies have revealed that glucocorticoids may reduce complications in certain patient groups, but evidence between postoperative glucocorticoids administration and improvement in organ dysfunction after aTAAD surgery are lacking. ⋯ The trial will explore the rationale for postoperative application of glucocorticoids in patients after aTAAD surgery.

Effects of ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block on postoperative acute pain and chronic post-surgical pain in patients underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy: a prospective randomized, controlled trial.
To investigate the effects of ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block (ESPB) on acute and chronic post-surgical pain in patients underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block can significantly reduce acute post-surgical pain, can not reduce the incidence of chronic post-surgical pain, but can significantly reduce the severity of chronic pain in patients underwent video-assisted thoracoscopic lobectomy.

Comparison of preoxygenation efficiency measured by the oxygen reserve index between high-flow nasal oxygenation and facemask ventilation: a randomised controlled trial.
High-flow nasal oxygenation and the oxygen reserve index (ORI), which is a non-invasive and innovative modality that reflects the arterial oxygen content, are used in general anaesthesia. This study compares the preoxygenation efficiency (measured by the ORI) of high-flow nasal oxygenation and facemask ventilation during the induction process. ⋯ High-flow nasal oxygenation results in an oxygenation status similar to that provided by facemask ventilation during the induction process of general anaesthesia; therefore, high-flow nasal oxygenation is a feasible preoxygenation method.
