Analgesia after robot assisted radical cystectomy aims to reduce postoperative pain and opioid consumption, while facilitating early mobilization and enteral nutrition and minimizing complications. Epidural analgesia is currently recommended for an open radical cystectomy, but it is unclear if intrathecal morphine is a suiting, less-invasive alternative for a robot-assisted radical cystectomy. ⋯ This study showed that the effects of epidural analgesia and intrathecal morphine are comparable and that intrathecal morphine may be a suiting alternative for epidural analgesia.

Functional modular networks identify the pivotal genes associated with morphine addiction and potential drug therapies.
Chronic morphine usage induces lasting molecular and microcellular adaptations in distinct brain areas, resulting in addiction-related behavioural abnormalities, drug-seeking, and relapse. Nonetheless, the mechanisms of action of the genes responsible for morphine addiction have not been exhaustively studied. ⋯ The hub genes are crucial genes associated with morphine addiction in the mouse striatum. The oxytocin signalling pathway may play a vital role in developing morphine addiction.
