There have been few reports showing the relationship between blood pressure (BP) measured at clinics preoperatively and BP measured before anesthetic intubation/induction. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between BP measured at different times and settings preoperatively and BP measured before intubation/induction. ⋯ The preoperative systolic BP value measured during the examination by the anesthesiologist was found to be closely related to pre-intubation systolic BP measured in the operating room. Higher BP during the preoperative examination may be a result of anxiety-induced stress or white-coat hypertension. Measuring BP during the anesthesiologist's examination may be useful for predicting hypertension in the pre-intubation period.

To investigate the effects of low-dose S-ketamine on marker of myocardial injury (BNP, hs-cTnT and HFABP) after thoracoscopic lobectomy in patients aged 70 to 85. ⋯ Low-dose S-ketamine can reduce the levels of hs-cTnT, HFABP, and BNP in older patients after pulmonary lobectomy, which has a positive effect on preventing myocardial injury.

High lactate to albumin ratio (LAR) has been reported to be associated to with poor prognosis in patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). However, its role in predicting in-hospital mortality in AF patients admitted to ICU has not been explored. ⋯ LAR, as a readily available biomarker, can predict in-hospital mortality in AF patients admitted to the ICU. The nomogram that combined LAR with other relevant variables performed exceptionally well in terms of predicting in-hospital mortality.

Kinetic analysis of crystalloid fluid yields a central distribution volume (Vc) of the same size as the expected plasma volume (approximately 3 L) except during general anesthesia during which Vc might be only half as large. The present study examined whether this difference is due to influence of the intravascular albumin balance. ⋯ Pronounced plasma volume expansion early during general anesthesia is associated with a positive intravascular albumin balance that is due to accelerated lymphatic flow. This phenomenon probably represents adjustment of the body fluid volumes to anesthesia-induced vasodilatation.

Preoperative chronic stress (CS) is associated with postoperative brain injury in patients undergoing open heart cardiac surgery. This research is to explore the potential molecular biological mechanisms of brain damage following cardiac surgery in preoperative CS rats by the analyses combining proteomics and metabolomics. ⋯ The pathways of animo acids metabolism such as lysine degradation and β-alanine metabolism may be the potential mechanisms of brain injury in CUS rats following cardiac surgery. We should focus on the varieties of bioproteins and metabolites in these pathways, and related changes in other signaling pathways induced by the two pathways.
