Effects of dexmedetomidine on evoked potentials in spinal surgery under combined intravenous inhalation anesthesia: a randomized controlled trial.
We aimed to investigate the effects of different doses of dexmedetomidine (Dex) on evoked potentials in adult patients undergoing spinal surgery under intravenous anesthesia with low-concentration desflurane. ⋯ Low-dose Dex has no effect on the SEPs and tcMEPs monitoring during spinal surgery. High-dose Dex has no effect on SEPs monitoring, but it may increase the rate of false positive tcMEPs signals and the incidence of intraoperative hypertension.

Perioperative hypotension increases postoperative complication rates and prolongs postoperative recovery time. Whether Passive Leg Raising test (PLR) and Subclavian Vein Diameter (DSCV) can effectively predict post-anesthesia hypotension remains to be tested. This study aimed to identify specific predictors of General Anesthesia (GA)induced hypotension by measuring DSCV in the supine versus PLR position. ⋯ ΔDSCV has predictive value for hypotension after general anesthesia.

Application of opioid-free general anesthesia for gynecological laparoscopic surgery under ERAS protocol: a non-inferiority randomized controlled trial.
Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) is now widely used in various surgical fields including gynecological laparoscopic surgery, but the advantages of opioid-free anesthesia (OFA) in gynecological laparoscopic surgery under ERAS protocol are inexact. ⋯ In gynecological laparoscopic surgery under ERAS protocol, OFA technique is non-inferior to OA technique in analgesic effect and intraoperative anesthesia stability. Although awakening and orientation recovery times were prolonged compared to OA, OFA had lower incidence of PONV and improved postoperative sleep quality.

Evaluating an advanced double intravenous vasopressor automated system to treat hypotension during spinal anesthesia for cesarean delivery: a randomized controlled trial.
The optimal treatment of hypotension during spinal anaesthesia is uncertain. A novel double intravenous vasopressor automated (DIVA) system reduces hypotension compared to standard care, and was subsequently modified to an advanced-DIVA (ADIVA) system. The primary objective was to compare ADIVA versus DIVA on incidence of hypotension (systolic BP (SBP) < 80% baseline). ⋯ ADIVA was associated with a greater proportion of hypotensive SBP readings, reduced phenylephrine consumption, and increased umbilical arterial pH than DIVA. Further research is needed to determine the optimal method of vasopressor delivery in parturients undergoing cesarean delivery.

Analysis of the association of sugammadex with the length of hospital stay in patients undergoing abdominal surgery: a retrospective study.
Sugammadex is a newer medication used for rapid and reliable reversal of neuromuscular blockade. This study evaluated whether sugammadex could reduce the length of postoperative hospital stay in patients undergoing abdominal surgery. ⋯ Neuromuscular blockade reversal with sugammadex after abdominal surgery demonstrated an excellent recovery profile and was associated with decreased risk of pneumonia, although it did not affect the length of postoperative hospital stay.
