Effects of different forced-air warming systems on the core temperature of patients: a manikin and multi-center clinical study.
The use of forced-air warming (FAW) blankets is widely recognized for preventing shivering and hypothermia in patients under general anesthesia. Various types of products are currently available for hospitals, and we have conducted a preliminary evaluation of insulation equipment based on expert opinions and initial parameters. However, we lack real-world experiments and accurate clinical data to validate these parameters and the accuracy of our decision-making results. This study aims to confirm the effectiveness of different FAW systems by assessing the thermal protection and operational characteristics of the equipment in both experimental and clinical settings, thereby enhancing our evaluation database. ⋯ Among patients undergoing laparoscopic radical resection of colorectal cancer with general anesthesia, all four FAW systems effectively prevented perioperative hypothermia. However, the system in Group A minimized heat loss more effectively than the others, providing superior thermal protection.

There are conflicting data on the relationship between preoperative electrocardiogram and postoperative mortality. We aimed to assess the predictive value of preoperative ECG on postoperative all-cause mortality in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery (NCS). ⋯ Patients with abnormal preoperative ECG findings face an elevated risk of all-cause mortality within 90 days after surgery. The highest mortality risk is observed in patients with atrial fibrillation and left bundle branch block. Additionally, an elevated heart rate, right bundle branch block, and atrial fibrillation further increase the risk of death in patients with pre-existing cardiac conditions.

Intraoperative temperature management during emergency cesarean section: a retrospective observational study.
Intraoperative hypothermia is a common complication during cesarean section (C-section) and associated with the high maternal mortality and morbidity. This study aimed to explore the risk factors associated with the incidence of intraoperative hypothermia in women who underwent emergency C-section deliveries. ⋯ Hypothermia is common in emergency C-section deliveries. It is recommended that active warming methods should be applied to parturient undergoing emergency C-sections more proactively, especially for women who have a low baseline core temperature (< 36.5 °C) and are expected to have a long surgery duration.

This study aimed to compile data on the effectiveness of music therapy for patients undergoing cardiothoracic surgery. ⋯ Music therapy can significantly reduce anxiety, pain, HR, SBP, and postoperative opioid use and even improve SpO2 in patients who undergo cardiothoracic surgery. Music therapy has a positive effect on patients after cardiothoracic surgery with few side effects, so it is promising for use in clinics.

Assessment of intermediate phase post anesthesia quality of recovery and its affecting factors.
Recovery after surgery and anesthesia is dependent on patient, surgical, and anesthetic characteristics, as well as the presence of any of numerous adverse sequelae. Postoperative recovery is a complex and multidimensional process that requires a holistic view of the recovery of capacities and homeostasis after anesthesia and surgery. ⋯ The magnitude of good quality of recovery was 65.6% whereas 34.4% scored poor quality of recovery. The predictors for the prevalence of poor quality of recovery were found to be orthopedic procedures; procedures undergone under general anesthesia; incidence of post-anesthesia nausea and vomiting; prolonged length of the procedure and severity of pain.
