Efficacy of transversalis fascia plane block as a novel ındication for varicocelectomy surgery: prospective randomized controlled study.
Varicocele occurs as a result of dilatation of the pampiniform plexus in the spermatic veins. In this study, our primary aim was to evaluate the effect of Transversalis Fascia Plane Block (TFPB) on pain scores in the postoperative period in patients undergoing varicocelectomy surgery, and our secondary aim was to evaluate the effect of TFPB on analgesic consumption. ⋯ This study has shown that TFPB can provide a more effective analgesia when compared to surgical site infiltration.

There is no evidence that carbon dioxide-enriched oxygen before apnea affects the time to arterial desaturation, but it might improve cerebral oxygenation in anesthetized obese patients: a single-blinded randomized crossover trial.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) increases cerebral perfusion. The effect of CO2 on apnea tolerance, such as after anesthesia induction, is unknown. This study aimed to assess if cerebral apnea tolerance can be improved in obese patients under general anesthesia when comparing O2/Air (95%O2) to O2/CO2 (95%O2/5%CO2). ⋯ O2/CO2 improves cerebral TOI and PaO2 in anesthetized bariatric patients. Better apnea tolerance could not be confirmed.

Comparison of analgesic efficacy of different local anesthetic volumes for erector spinae plane block in thoracotomy patients; a prospective randomized trial.
Erector spinae plane block (ESPB) is a thoracic wall block that has been used frequently in recent years. It was aimed to compare the analgesic efficacy of bupivacaine in different volumes for ESPB in patients undergoing thoracotomy. ⋯ The results of ESPB applied with 20 ml and 30 ml of local anesthetic before the surgical incision in thoracotomy patients showed that the use of 30 ml of local anesthetic provided more effective analgesia. In addition, similar side-effect rates show that 30 ml of local anesthetic can be used safely.

Effects of dexmedetomidine on evoked potentials in spinal surgery under combined intravenous inhalation anesthesia: a randomized controlled trial.
We aimed to investigate the effects of different doses of dexmedetomidine (Dex) on evoked potentials in adult patients undergoing spinal surgery under intravenous anesthesia with low-concentration desflurane. ⋯ Low-dose Dex has no effect on the SEPs and tcMEPs monitoring during spinal surgery. High-dose Dex has no effect on SEPs monitoring, but it may increase the rate of false positive tcMEPs signals and the incidence of intraoperative hypertension.

Application of opioid-free general anesthesia for gynecological laparoscopic surgery under ERAS protocol: a non-inferiority randomized controlled trial.
Enhanced recovery after surgery (ERAS) is now widely used in various surgical fields including gynecological laparoscopic surgery, but the advantages of opioid-free anesthesia (OFA) in gynecological laparoscopic surgery under ERAS protocol are inexact. ⋯ In gynecological laparoscopic surgery under ERAS protocol, OFA technique is non-inferior to OA technique in analgesic effect and intraoperative anesthesia stability. Although awakening and orientation recovery times were prolonged compared to OA, OFA had lower incidence of PONV and improved postoperative sleep quality.
