Randomized Controlled Trial[Prospective randomized controlled clinical study of early use of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation in the treatment for acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease].
To evaluate the effect of the early use of noninvasive positive pressure ventilation (NIPPV) on gas exchange, rate of endotracheal intubation and in-hospital mortality in patients with acute exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). ⋯ Early use of NIPPV can improve gas exchange, lessen respiratory muscle fatigue and decrease the need for intubation in patients with acute exacerbation of COPD.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Clinical comparative study of airway pressure release ventilation and continuous positive airway pressure ventilation].
To evaluate the effects of airway pressure release ventilation (APRV) and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) on hemodynamics, lung mechanics and oxygen metabolism index. ⋯ In APRV group sedation can be abstained during RM, and the hemodynamics were hardly disturbed. Improvement of lung mechanics and oxygenation is much better with APRV than CPAP mode.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Effects of lung recruitment maneuver on oxygenation and hemodynamics after open endotracheal suctioning in acute respiratory distress syndrome].
To evaluate the treatment value of lung recruitment (LR) maneuver on oxygenation and hemodynamics in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) patients after open endotracheal suctioning (ETS). ⋯ LR is effective in rapidly counteracting the deterioration in PaO(2) caused by open ETS in ARDS/ALI patients without interfering the hemodynamics.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Effects of recruitment maneuvers with low tidal volume ventilation in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome].
To assess the effects of recruitment maneuvers (RMs) with low tidal volume (V(T)) ventilation on gas oxygenation and reduction of ventilation-associated lung injury (VALI) in patients suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), to assess the effects of RMs on blood pressure, heart rate and occurrence of barotrauma. ⋯ RM could recruit the collapsed alveoli in ARDS. It could significantly improve oxygenation and decrease VALI. A superimposed RM is safe, and repeated RM could also decrease barotrauma.

[Experimental study of the safety of sustained inflation strategy in acute respiratory distress syndrome in sheep].
To evaluate the effects of lung recruitment maneuver (RM) on hemodynamics and lung structure with sustained inflation (SI) in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) in sheep, to look for a safe range of pressure and time of SI. ⋯ The impairment of the hemodynamics and damage to the lung structure should be prevented when RM is performed in ARDS patients, and the inflation pressure should be limited within the range of UIP or 5 cm H(2)O under UIP to avoid adverse effect on hemodynamics.
