  [Clinical observation of passive leg raising combined with non invasive cardiac output monitoring system in predicting volume responsiveness].

  To investigate whether passive leg raising (PLR) combined with ultrasonic cardiac output monitoring system (USCOM) could be used to predict the hemodynamic response to volume expansion (VE) in patients with spontaneous respiration. ⋯ PLR combined with USCOM can predict the hemodynamic response to VE in spontaneously breathing patients, and the procedure can be used to guide fluid therapy in spontaneously breathing patients.

  [Prognostic value of N terminal pro B type natriuretic peptide in critically ill patients].

  To investigate whether plasma N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-pro-BNP) as measured at admission to intensive care unit (ICU) is an independent predictor of mortality in critically ill patients. ⋯ The ICU NT-pro-BNP level higher than 1 418 ng/L and APACHEII score at admission are independent prognosis markers of early mortality. NT-pro-BNP might serve as a potent early diagnostic and prognostic marker in critically ill patients.
