Randomized Controlled Trial[Clinical study on effects of ulinastatin on patients with systemic inflammatory response syndrome].
To evaluate the value of ulinastatin in hindering systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) to proceed to multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS). ⋯ Ulinastatin significantly improves the inflammatory symptom and signs of SIRS, such as T, HR, RR, and WBC, inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines, and enhance the anti-inflammatory cytokines in the treatment of SIRS. It can effectively prevent SIRS to proceed to MODS.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome using pressure and volume controlled ventilation with lung protective strategy].
To investigate the significance and effect of pressure controlled ventilation (PCV) as well as volume controlled ventilation (VCV) by lung protective strategy on respiratory mechanics, blood gas analysis and hemodynamics in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). ⋯ Both PCV and VCV can improve arterial blood oxygenations, prevent ventilator-induced lung injury, and have less disturbance in hemodynamic parameters. PCV with lung protective ventilatory strategy should be early use for patients with ARDS.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial[Effects of high-volume hemofiltration on serum levels of tumor necrosis factor and its receptors in patients with multiple organ dysfunction syndromes].
To investigate whether serum tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and its receptors can be removed by high-volume hemofiltration (HVHF) or continuous veno-venous hemofiltration (CVVH). ⋯ In MODS patients with ARF undergoing HVHF, the serum TNF-alpha concentrations dropped significantly, but the serum sTNF-R1 and sTNF-R2 concentrations do not change significantly. Our study suggests that HVHF may be the better option for the treatment of MODS patients.

To explore the protective effect of propofol on liver during hepatic ischemia/reperfusion injury (HIRI) and its mechanisms in patients undergoing liver surgery. ⋯ Propofol has protective effects on HIRI by reducing oxygen free radical level and inhibiting lipid peroxidation after hepatic ischemia/reperfusion in patients undergoing liver cancer surgery.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[A study of mechanical ventilation pattern in different recovery stages of muscle relaxant after general anesthesia].
To observe the effects of intermittent positive pressure ventilation (IPPV), synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation (SIMV), and biphasic intermittent positive airway pressure (BiPAP) on the recovery time of automatic breathing in patients in different stages of recovery of general anesthesia with muscle relaxant. ⋯ SIMV and BiPAP have the advantages as follows: no confrontation between mechanical ventilation and autonomous breathing, quick recovery of autonomous breathing, little change in airway pressure, high MV and low P(Et)CO(2). So SIMV and BiPAP are more suitable for recovery from anesthesia. In addition, BiPAP can lower the airway's peak pressure and decrease the probability of barotrauma therefore it is more suitable for those patients with high airway pressure.
