Randomized Controlled Trial[A study on the effect of recruitment maneuver imposed on extravascular lung water in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome].
To investigate the possible effects of recruitment maneuver (RM) imposing on extravascular lung water (EVLW) in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). ⋯ RM for the patients with ARDS can merely improve lung mechanics without obvious effect on EVLW. Neither of the influencing factors involved in the study has impact on emergence and clearance of EVLW.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Clinical effects of low-stretch ventilation on acute respiratory distress syndrome].
To investigate the effectiveness of low-stretch as compared with low-tidal-volume strategy in the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). ⋯ Compared with low-tidal-volume strategy, low-stretch strategy can reduce the incidence of hypercapnia, the length of ventilation and ICU stay for ARDS patients, but have similar mortality rate. When low-stretch strategy is exercised, an inappropriate low tidal volume may be associated with poor outcome of ARDS.

Comparative Study[Study on the effect of control mode of pressure and volume on cardiac index and intrathoracic blood volume index in critically ill patients].
To compare the effect of control mode of pressure and volume of mechanical ventilation on cardiac index (CI), intrathoracic blood volume index (ITBVI) in patients. ⋯ In the two mechanical ventilation modes, with an increase in V(T), CI and ITBVI may decrease. The Pmean is lower when BIPAP mode in used compared with SIMV, when V(T) is same. So mechanical ventilation and V(T) can influence the readings of CI and ITBVI when PiCCO monitoring is employed.

Comparative Study[Influence of the venous catheter site on data of pulse indicator continuous cardiac output monitoring].
To compare the use of subclavian vein catheter and femoral vein catheter, in monitoring pulse indicator continuous cardiac output (PiCCO) monitoring data cardiac index (CI), extravascular lung water index (EVLWI), and global end-diastolic volume index (GEDVI) with central venous injection of the bolus cold saline injection, in order to determine whether the femoral vein access, which is not typically used, could be used to obtain reliable data. ⋯ Measurements with a cold saline bolus via a femoral catheter, compared to those via a subclavian catheter, lead to overestimation of CI, EVLWI and GEDVI values, and a great bias of GEDVI should be taken into account in clinical work.
