To investigate the role of transduce molecules and modulatory factors of signal pathways of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) in aberrant inflammatory response in children with sepsis. ⋯ Aberrant expression of signal pathway molecules and the modulators in TLRs signaling might play an important role on production and development of abnormal inflammatory response in children with sepsis.

[The potential role of high mobility group box 1 protein in immune dysfunction and its regulatory mechanism after major trauma].
To investigate the potential effect of high mobility group box 1 protein (HMGB1) on host immune response and its molecular regulation mechanism as well as its interventional pathway following major burns/trauma. ⋯ These data proved that HMGB1 not only acts as a novel "late" inflammatory mediator but is also closely associated with immunosuppression after acute insults. HMGB1 might play an important role in inducing systemic inflammatory response together with host immunological dissonance, resulting in the development of septic complications. Intervention of HMGB1 expression and release presumably provides a potentially effective way to regulate both excessive inflammatory and immune response, thereby as a measure to improve the prognosis of severe sepsis secondary to major trauma.

[Effect of treatment with anti-receptor for advanced glycation end products antibody on multiple organ dysfunction and mortality in rats after severe thermal injury].
To observe the effect of treatment with anti-receptor for advanced glycation end products (RAGE) antibody on multiple organ dysfunction and mortality in rats after severe burn injury, and investigate the mechanisms underlying its protective effect. ⋯ Anti-RAGE antibody could obviously improve the survival in rats with burn injury with delayed resuscitation, and it seems to be able to prevent the development of multiple organ dysfunction secondary to severe burns.

[The changes in insulin sensitivity under stress and its clinical significance in the critically ill patients].
To observe the changes in blood glucose, serum insulin level and insulin resistance of critically ill patients during the acute stage and explore the relationship between the changes and their prognosis. ⋯ The study suggests that FBG and ISI could be used to evaluate the severity and prognosis. Hyperinsulinemia is found in some critically ill patients, but FINS is not helpful for assessing the severity and outcome.

[The effect of recombinant interleukin-10/Fc fusion protein on lipopolysaccharide-induced acute lung injury in mice].
To clarify the regulatory role and mechanism of recombinant interleukin-10/Fc (rIL-10/Fc) fusion protein on inflammatory parameters during development of acute lung injury (ALI) induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS) in a murine model. ⋯ rIL-10/Fc fusion protein inhibits release of TNF-alpha and IL-1 beta in BALF in a LPS-induced ALI murine model. rIL-10/Fc fusion protein improves survival rate in ALI mice by decreasing the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines.
