Image noise reduction algorithm for digital subtraction angiography: clinical results.
To test the hypothesis that an image noise reduction algorithm designed for digital subtraction angiography (DSA) in interventional neuroradiology enables a reduction in the patient entrance dose by a factor of 4 while maintaining image quality. ⋯ In DSA, a change in technique factors combined with a real-time noise-reduction algorithm will reduce the patient entrance dose by 75%, without a loss of image quality.

Knee derangements: comparison of isotropic 3D fast spin-echo, isotropic 3D balanced fast field-echo, and conventional 2D fast spin-echo MR imaging.
To compare diagnostic performance, subjective image quality, and artifacts of isotropic three-dimensional (3D) intermediate-weighted (IW) fast spin-echo (SE), isotropic 3D balanced fast field-echo (FFE), and conventional two-dimensional (2D) fast SE 3.0-T MR sequences in evaluation of cartilage, ligaments, menisci, and osseous knee structures in symptomatic patients. ⋯ The performance of IW fast SE is superior to that of balanced FFE in evaluation of cartilaginous defects, with no significant difference in performance between 2D fast SE, 3D IW fast SE, and 3D balanced FFE in evaluation of meniscal and ligament tears. Subchondral bone marrow signal abnormality is more easily seen on 3D IW fast SE images, with better subjective image quality and fewer artifacts, than on images obtained with other techniques.

Interstitial lung abnormalities in a CT lung cancer screening population: prevalence and progression rate.
To determine the prevalence of interstitial lung abnormalities (ILAs) at initial computed tomography (CT) examination and the rate of progression of ILAs on 2-year follow-up CT images in a National Lung Screening Trial population studied at a single site. ⋯ ILA is common in cigarette smokers. Nonfibrotic ILA improved in about 50% of cases, and fibrotic ILA progressed in about 37%.

Can neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin help depict early contrast material-induced nephropathy?
To evaluate the utility of serum and urinary neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) in depicting an event of contrast material-induced nephropathy (CIN) in patients who received iodinated contrast media, gadoterate meglumine, or radiopharmaceutical technetium-99m ((99m)Tc) and to evaluate the protective effect exerted by isotonic saline infusion, sodium bicarbonate administration, or N-acetylcysteine administration. ⋯ http://radiology.rsna.org/lookup/suppl/doi:10.1148/radiol.12120578/-/DC1.
