Sciatica: treatment with intradiscal and intraforaminal injections of steroid and oxygen-ozone versus steroid only.
To prospectively compare the clinical effectiveness of intraforaminal and intradiscal injections of a mixture of a steroid, a local anesthetic, and oxygen-ozone (O(2)-O(3)) (chemodiscolysis) versus intraforaminal and intradiscal injections of a steroid and an anesthetic in the management of radicular pain related to acute lumbar disk herniation. ⋯ Intraforaminal and intradiscal injections of a steroid, an anesthetic, and O(2)-O(3) are more effective at 6 months than injections of only a steroid and an anesthetic in the same sites.

Endovascular brachytherapy for prophylaxis of restenosis after femoropopliteal angioplasty: five-year follow-up--prospective randomized study.
To report the 5-year results from the prospective randomized Vienna-2 trial, which was designed to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of adjunctive endovascular brachytherapy (EBT) compared with no further treatment after successful revascularization in patients with long-segment femoropopliteal lesions. ⋯ At 5-year follow-up, PTA followed by gamma radiation EBT with a dose of 12 Gy resulted in a delay but not an inhibition of restenosis when compared with that of PTA alone.

Contrast enhancement of central nervous system lesions: multicenter intraindividual crossover comparative study of two MR contrast agents.
To prospectively compare gadobenate dimeglumine with gadopentetate dimeglumine (0.1 mmol per kilogram body weight) for enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) imaging of central nervous system (CNS) lesions. ⋯ Gadobenate compared with gadopentetate at an equivalent dose provides significantly better enhancement and diagnostic information for CNS MR imaging.

Peripheral arteries: treatment with antibodies of platelet receptors and reteplase for thrombolysis--APART trial.
To prospectively compare the safety and efficacy of combination therapy with the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa antagonist abciximab plus the third-generation thrombolytic agent reteplase versus those of therapy with the standard thrombolytic agent urokinase plus abciximab. ⋯ The proposed regimen resulted in only a limited number of major complications, and the low amputation rate in both groups may be attributed to abciximab.

Low back pain: prediction of short-term outcome of facet joint injection with bone scintigraphy.
To prospectively evaluate use of bone scintigraphy with single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) for identification of patients with low back pain who would benefit from facet joint injections. ⋯ Bone scintigraphy with SPECT can help identify patients with low back pain who would benefit from facet joint injections.
