To demonstrate a limitation of lifetime radiation-induced cancer risk metrics in the setting of testicular cancer surveillance-in particular, their failure to capture the delayed timing of radiation-induced cancers over the course of a patient's lifetime. ⋯ Lifetime radiation risk estimates, when used for decision making, may overemphasize radiation-induced cancer risks relative to short-term health risks.

To (a) apply an active surface method to map the regional distribution of cord atrophy across levels and sectors in a relatively large group of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS), (b) compare the anatomic location of cord atrophy between patients with relapsing-remitting (RR) MS and those with secondary progressive (SP) MS, and (c) assess correlations between atrophy and disability. ⋯ Voxel-wise assessment of the regional distribution of damage in the cervical cord is feasible and might improve our understanding of the mechanisms related to the development of irreversible clinical disability in MS.

Reported mammographic density: film-screen versus digital acquisition.
To test the hypothesis that American College of Radiology Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System (BI-RADS) categories for breast density reported by radiologists are lower when digital mammography is used than those reported when film-screen (FS) mammography is used. ⋯ The study results showed no difference in reported BI-RADS breast density categories according to acquisition method. Reported BI-RADS density categories may be useful in the development of breast cancer risk models in which FS, digital, or both acquisition methods are used.

To identify predictors of clinically important abnormal findings in computed tomography (CT) images of the head among emergency department (ED) patients without a history of trauma. ⋯ This study identified several potential clinical predictors of abnormal head CT findings in ED patients who did not sustain trauma. Prospective validation of a clinical prediction rule in this population is warranted.
