Intravenous contrast material administration at 16-detector row helical CT coronary angiography: test bolus versus bolus-tracking technique.
To compare test bolus and bolus-tracking techniques for intravenous contrast material administration at 16-detector row computed tomographic (CT) coronary angiography. ⋯ Bolus-tracking yields more homogeneous enhancement than does the test bolus technique.

Peripheral arterial disease: therapeutic confidence of CT versus digital subtraction angiography and effects on additional imaging recommendations.
To compare multi-detector row computed tomographic (CT) angiography and digital subtraction angiography (DSA) prior to revascularization in patients with symptomatic peripheral arterial disease for the purpose of assessing recommendations for additional imaging and physician confidence ratings for chosen therapy. ⋯ With CT angiography, physician confidence decreases with an associated increase in additional imaging prior to revascularization in patients with symptomatic peripheral arterial disease. Given that CT is less invasive than DSA, results suggest that CT may replace DSA in selected cases.

Primary and secondary brain tumors at MR imaging: bicentric intraindividual crossover comparison of gadobenate dimeglumine and gadopentetate dimeglumine.
To evaluate the safety of and compare the enhancement characteristics of gadobenate dimeglumine (MultiHance; Bracco Imaging, Milan, Italy) with those of a standard gadolinium chelate (gadopentetate dimeglumine, Magnevist; Schering, Berlin, Germany) in primary and secondary brain tumors on the basis of qualitative and quantitative parameters, on an intraindiviual basis. ⋯ Significantly superior contrast enhancement of intraaxial enhancing brain tumors was achieved with 0.1 mmol/kg gadobenate dimeglumine compared with that with 0.1 mmol/kg gadopentetate dimeglumine.

Endovascular gamma irradiation of femoropopliteal de novo stenoses immediately after PTA: interim results of prospective randomized controlled trial.
To report an interim analysis of whether centered endovascular irradiation with the iridium 192 ((192)Ir) source immediately after percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) of de novo femoropopliteal stenoses lowers the restenosis rate. ⋯ Endovascular irradiation with a centered (192)Ir source immediately after PTA of de novo femoropopliteal stenoses reduces the restenosis rate.

Suspected appendicitis in children: US and CT--a prospective randomized study.
To evaluate the accuracy of ultrasonography (US) and of abdominal computed tomography (CT) performed in addition to US in the diagnosis of childhood appendicitis. ⋯ US is valuable in the diagnosis of appendicitis in children. In inconclusive cases, performing additional abdominal CT can improve diagnostic accuracy and thereby decrease the negative appendectomy rate without an increase in the perforation rate.
