Randomized Controlled Trial[The efficacy of nebulized budesonide in acute moderate to severe exacerbations of asthma in children].
To evaluate the effect of nebulized budesonide (BUD) in acute moderate to severe exacerbations of asthma in children. ⋯ Nebulized BUD in high dose and at short intervals combined with rapid-acting bronchodilators has an additional bronchodilator response, associated with more rapid and better improvement in clinical symptoms and lung function, indicating that it is preferred in the early management of acute moderate to severe exacerbation of asthma in children.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Comparison of computer-driven weaning and physician-directed weaning from mechanical ventilation: a randomized prospective study].
To evaluate if the computer-driven weaning (CDW) with a closed-loop knowledge-based system introduced in a ventilator is superior to physician-directed weaning (PDW) in difficult-to-wean patients in the intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ The CDW method used in patients with difficult weaning from ventilators was shown to shorten the weaning time, reduce stay in ICU, and decrease the need for manual adjustment of ventilators.

Randomized Controlled Trial[The effect of spontaneous breathing trial on weaning from ventilators].
To investigate whether spontaneous breathing trial is an essential process during weaning from ventilator in critically cared patients without chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). ⋯ The result suggests that spontaneous breathing trial may be not a necessary procedure preceding extubation in a general intensive care population.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Comparison of high-intensity and anaerobic threshold programs in rehabilitation for patients with moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease].
To compare two training programs in rehabilitation for patients with moderate to severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). ⋯ Both the HI and the AT groups had significant improvements in exercise capacity and dyspnea after pulmonary rehabilitation. The degree of improvement in both groups was similar. But the HI group showed significant improvement in the anaerobic threshold and decrease in ventilatory requirement.

Randomized Controlled Trial[The effects of endotracheal suction on gas exchange and respiratory mechanics in mechanically ventilated patients under pressure-controlled or volume-controlled ventilation].
To compare the effects of endotracheal suction on gas exchange and respiratory mechanics in mechanically ventilated patients receiving pressure-controlled ventilation (PCV) or volume-controlled ventilation (VCV). ⋯ Endotracheal suction causes lung collapse leading to impairment of gas exchange and decreased compliance both under PCV and VCV, but the effect on gas exchange was more severe and persistent under PCV than under VCV.
