[Influence of the Type of Hip-Component Fixation and Age of Patients on Mid-Term Revision Rate of Total Hip Replacement].
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY Aseptic loosening of endoprosthetic components is the most frequent reason for total hip arthroplasty revision. This paper aimed to verify the influence of the type of hip-component fixation of total hip replacement in correlation with the age of patients on aseptic loosening of components during mid-term survival. MATERIAL AND METHODS The retrospective, monocentric study statistically evaluated the data of 67 cases of implanted total hip replacements in 66 patients with the loosening of at least one of the components requiring a revision of the total number of 1,488 primary total hip replacements implanted during the 1995 to 2006 period at a single department. ⋯ The younger age category showed a lower revision rate for uncemented versions than for the used hybrid versions of endoprostheses. For the group of elderly patients, there was no difference between the survival rate of hybrid and cemented joint replacement. Key words:arthroplasty with total hip replacement, cemented joint replacement, uncemented joint replacement, joint replacement failure, aseptic loosening of total replacement, age, joint replacement survival. 046_053_kubinec 20.2.18 14:12 Stránka 46 47/ Acta Chir Orthop Traumatol Cech. 85, 2018, No. 1 PŮVODNÍ PRÁCE.

[Short-Term Results of the Carpometacarpal Joint Arthroplasty Using the Ivory® Prosthesis].
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY Trapeziometacarpal osteoarthritis affects primarily postmenopausal middle-aged and older women. Total joint replacement is one of the surgical treatment options for symptomatic advanced degenerative changes of the carpometacarpal joint. This study aims to evaluate the short-term functional and radiological results of the Ivory ® prosthesis with the minimum followup period of three years after the surgery. ⋯ The complementary study did not confirm that the lengthening of the thumb causes the postoperative development of De Quervain s tenosynovitis. CONCLUSIONS The uncemented first carpometacarpal joint total replacement using the Ivory ® prosthesis brings about very good shortterm functional and radiological results, with no occurrence of early aseptic loosening of the implant. Key words:rhizarthrosis, arthroplasty, carpometacarpal joint prosthesis, uncemented.

[Innovated Judet Ribs Plates - Preclinical Study, First Clinical Experience].
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY Based on the experience with using the Judet plates in stabilization of rib fractures an innovated Judet plate was constructed in cooperation with the Development Department of Medin company. During the preclinical part of the project, following the construction of the new Judet plate, a surgical technique was elaborated. Subsequently, the clinical application of rib osteosynthesis with innovated plates was commenced. ⋯ The new technical parameters of the plate, including its weight, new fixation clips, locking screws and instruments are the priorities of the innovated Judet plates. The innovation of Judet plates represents an important step towards the extension of indications for surgical stabilisation of the chest. Key words:innovative Judet plates, preclinical study, osteosynthesis of rib fractures.

[Tear of the Distal Biceps Brachii Tendon - Correlation of Ultrasound and Operative Findings, Surgical Therapy Results].
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY When treating tears of the distal biceps brachii muscle tendon, we repeatedly noticed a difference between the preoperative ultrasound findings and the operative findings. The aim of the study was to retrospectively correlate these findings in order to determine the sensitivity of the ultrasound examination in everyday orthopaedic practice. Moreover, we compared the results and complications of surgical treatment through two operative techniques used at our department. ⋯ For surgical treatment of this injury we prefer the technique using a bone anchor, namely particularly since it is technically easier to perform. The functional results are very good. Key words: distal biceps tendon, elbow, tendon tear, ultrasound, suture anchors.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Comparison of Short-Therm Results of Conservative versus Operative Treatment of Distal Ulna Fractures Associated with Distal Radius Fracture Treated by Plate Osteosynthesis].
PURPOSE OF THE STUDY The study aims to evaluate and compare the results of conservative and operative treatment of individual types of distal ulna fractures associated with distal radius fracture treated by plate osteosynthesis and to verify the conclusions of the other authors regarding the recommended therapeutic procedures in these fractures. MATERIAL AND METHODS In the period from 08/2013 to 09/2015, a total of 81 patients participated in the prospective randomised study, with the mean follow-up period of 24 months (6-36). All the fractures of distal two thirds of ulnar styloid process were treated conservatively. ⋯ The operative treatment of subcapital ulna fracture had a very good early outcome as compared to conservative treatment of the fracture which healed in malunion, the change of axial position of the distal end of the bone resulted in a limited range of forearm mobility. CONCLUSIONS Based on the early functional and radiographic outcomes of RCT study it can be stated, in agreement with the other authors, that the operative treatment of distal ulna fractures associated with the distal radius fracture treated by ORIF should be indicated for base fractures of ulnar styloid process associated with DRUJ instability following the osteosynthesis of distal radius fracture and peripheral fragment dislocation ad axim or ad latus in radial direction by 2 mm and more, and also in case of displaced ulnar head fractures and instable and displaced subcapital fractures of the ulna. Key words: distal ulna fracture, plate osteosynthesis, LCP distal ulna plate.
