To determine the impact of a fast track area on emergency department crowding and its efficacy for non-urgent patients. ⋯ Owing to fast track, overcrowding in the emergency department was lessened. It also improved effectiveness and quality measures.

To document the prevalence, clinical presentation and treatment outcome of cryptosporidiosis in immunocompetent adult patients presenting with acute diarrhoea. ⋯ Our study demonstrates a high prevalence of cryptosporidiosis in immunocompetent adult patients. Nitazoxanide is the recommended antimicrobial drug for cryptosporidiosis.

To determine the impact of Follicular Lymphoma International Prognostic Index risk categorisation on the survival of patients with follicular lymphoma treated in one centre. ⋯ The Follicular Lymphoma International Prognostic Index showed significant prognostic value with high scores having poor overall survival compared to patients with low and intermediate scores.

Comparison of clinical effects of prilocaine, dexamethasone added to prilocaine and levobupivacaine on brachial plexus block.
To determine whether the addition of 8 mg dexamethasone to axillary brachial plexus block would prolong the duration of sensory and motor block in patients undergoing hand and forearm surgery. ⋯ The addition of dexamethasone to prilocaine prolonged the duration of sensory and motor block. It could be used as an effective adjuvant agent. Levobupivacain could be a more appropriate local anaesthetic in postoperative analgesia and prolonged surgical procedures.
