Comparative StudyMicroscopic colitis and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth--diagnosis behind the irritable bowel syndrome?
Some patients previously diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) may develop microscopic colitis or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). ⋯ Patients suspected to have irritable bowel syndrome should be evaluated for microscopic colitis and SIBO. The proper diagnosis and the specific treatment may cure some difficult cases of the so called "irritable bowel syndrome".

Infective endocarditis in non-HIV immunosuppressed patients.
Infective endocarditis is a septic illness with sudden or insidious onset that causes heart lesions or aggravates the preexisting ones; during its course it can affect other organs, mortality being high. ⋯ It was noted that in addition to endocardial damage due to the multiple etiologic agents involved, non-HIV immunosuppression in these patients plays an important role. The association of Carmeli score in patients diagnosed with infective endocarditis is significant, especially in case of adequate therapy initiation for a right treatment of this pathology.

The semi-quantitative calprotectin rapid test--is it useful in inflammatory bowel disease?
To assess the efficiency of the dosage of the semi-quantitative calprotectin rapid test in evaluating the activity of inflammatory bowel diseases. ⋯ The rapid test for assessing calprotectin could be a useful non-invasive marker in appreciating the severity of clinical and biological disease activity.
