[The classification and risk analysis of clinical claims for mechanical ventilator].
The risk analysis of clinical claims of mechanical ventilator can provide the useful information to the application of the availability and safety of mechanical ventilators. This paper classifies the clinical claims of two types of mechanical ventilations, and tries to find the distribution characteristics of the failure rate of the clinical claims by using the hazard analysis method. All of the distribution characteristics are related to the factors as ventilator design, environment human factors, etc. The method of risk analysis, combining with the classification of clinical claims, is useful for the clinical application and engineering services of mechanical ventilation.

[Study on predicting model for acute hypotensive episodes in ICU based on support vector machine].
The occurrence of acute hypotensive episodes (AHE) in intensive care units (ICU) seriously endangers the lives of patients, and the treatment is mainly depended on the expert experience of doctors. In this paper, a model for predicting the occurrence of AHE in ICU has been developed using the theory of medical Informatics. ⋯ On this basis, we also compared different models consisted of different kernel functions. Experiments demonstrated that this approach performed well on classification and prediction, which would contribute to forecast the occurrence of AHE.

[Application of 5-second heart rate variability parameter based on poincare plot in real-time monitoring of the autonomic nervous system activity].
This study designed one index of HRV from Poincaré plot named 5SSD1 by the present authors, which can describe the characteristics of the heart rate dynamics with 5-second data. We also investigated the feasibility of its clinical application in real-time monitoring of the activity of autonomic nervous system. We studied 20 patients scheduled for oral maxillofacial surgery. ⋯ The correlation between 5SSD1 and indicators, such as rMSSD, HF and SD1 of 5-minute HRV was significantly high, with r=0.995, 0.895, 0.996, respectively, at P<0.01 for all. However, the correlation between 5SSD1 and the other indicators of 5-minute HRV was relatively poor. It was proved that 5SSD1 could be used to assess the activities of the autonomic nervous system in real-time, and the stable and reliable results might play more roles in the clinical applications.

[Hurst index based analysis of sinus arrhythmia and atrial arrhythmia].
This study sought to disclose whether Hurst index can be used as a criterion for distinguishing sinus and atrial arrhythmia signals. Normal sinus rhythm beats, atrial premature contraction (APC) beats, and sinus bradycardia (SBR) signals, were taken from the MIT-BIH standard database. ⋯ The data indicated that the long-term relevant character was the best for normal signal, better for sinus bradycardia, and the worst for atrial premature beats. So Hurst index is a useful identification criterion for distinguishing sinus and atrial arrhythmia signals.
