Case Reports[DRESS syndrome induced by sulfasalazine. Report of one case].
DRESS syndrome (Drug Reaction with Eosinophilia and Systemic Symptoms) is a severe, rare and potentially lethal idiosyncratic condition associated with the use of some drugs. Given its broad spectrum of presentation, clinical suspicion is essential for management, since it requires the immediate withdrawal of the culprit drug, support measures and the use of corticosteroids as the first line of treatment. We report a 24-year-old woman with a diagnosis of ulcerative colitis with joint involvement despite the use of infliximab, who presented symptoms, signs and laboratory compatible with DRESS syndrome on the third week after indicating sulfasalazine for her baseline disease.

One of the devastating consequences of monoclonal gammopathies is the development of end-stage kidney disease, which can be prevented with an early diagnosis. Renal involvement can be secondary to saturation of paraproteins with intratubular precipitation or the glomerular deposition of paraproteins with secondary inflammation and destruction. These conditions can also be associated with monoclonal gammopathies that do not meet hematological treatment criteria, called monoclonal gammopathies of renal significance (MGRS). ⋯ In this group of patients, light chains tend to affect the kidney more commonly than heavy chains. The prognosis of multiple myeloma is much worse than MGRS.

In Chile, 7.1% of people aged over 60 years have some type of cognitive disorder. The frequency of the latter increases to 13% in people between 75-79 years and 36.2% in people over 85 years. The concept of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia have evolved over time. ⋯ This request has the sole effect of pre-establishing evidence in favor of the notary and not protecting the testator or the vulnerable person. Assessing the ability of older people to care for themselves and their possessions has important implications for them and their families, since there is a serious risk of prejudice when someone is declared as disabled. Thus, considering the epidemiology of cognitive disorders in our country we propose a series of legal and medical discussion points aimed to protect autonomy and to protect individuals and their possessions when they have difficulties to control their decisions.

[Cluster C personality traits and attention deficit disorder in medical students. An analytical cross-sectional study].
Attentional deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in adults is associated with borderline personality characteristics or cluster B (emotional instability), but in certain populations, such as medical students, it might be associated with cluster C traits (perfectionism, dependency, anxiety). This may be compensatory to ADHD. ⋯ Cluster C personality traits were frequent among medical students and were significantly associated with ADHD.
