[Comparison of different methods to estimate glomerular filtration rate in older adults].
Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) estimation in older adults using a creatinine clearance/24-hour (CrCl) or an equation based on serum creatinine, are often considered equivalent by clinicians. ⋯ The practice of considering equivalent the GFR estimation using the creatinine-based equations with measured creatinine clearance in older adults should be reconsidered, because their results differ markedly.

Case Reports[Successful deployment of a percutaneous aortic valve in a patient with a mitral prosthesis. Risks and technical considerations].
The deployment of a percutaneous aortic valve is challenging in patients with a mitral prosthesis. The risk of prosthetic deformation, embolization or dysfunction is higher in this group of patients, which requires a series of technical considerations. We report a successful implantation of an Evolut Pro # 29 self-expanding valve in a 67-year-old female with a previous Starr-Edwards caged-ball mitral prosthesis.

Case Reports[Tuberculous pericarditis an infrequent extrapulmonary manifestation of TB].
Extrapulmonary tuberculosis (TB) contributes to 15% of total cases, representing a great diagnostic and therapeutic challenge. Pericardial involvement is present in 1 to 2% of TB patients and is considered an unusual presentation form of TB. We report a 67-year-old male presenting with fever and progressive dyspnea. ⋯ Therefore, an emergency pericardiectomy was performed. The pathological report of pericardial tissue showed caseating necrosis and its Koch culture was positive. The patient was treated with anti-tuberculous drugs with a favorable evolution.

[Calorie and macronutrient intake during the first six months after bariatric surgery].
Bariatric surgery (BS) is the most effective procedure in the management of obesity, achieving a significant decrease in energy intake. ⋯ Patients subjected to BS had a low calorie and macronutrient intake in the first six postoperative months. Their calorie intake is negatively associated with weight loss, mainly during the first postoperative month.
