Case ReportsPlasma insulin-like growth factor-II (IGF-II) and IGF-II/IGF-I ratio in a chilean case of Doege-Potter Syndrome.
Doege-Potter syndrome is a rare clinical entity characterized by recurrent hypoglycemic events caused by non-pancreatic tumors secreting an incompletely processed high-molecular-weight form of Insulin-like Growth factor-II (IGF-II). ⋯ The plasma IGF-II/IGF-I ratio better indicates the Doege-Potter syndrome's metabolic impairment than isolated measurements of circulating IGF-II or IGF-I levels.

Observational StudyInfectious disease evaluations in a psychiatric unit, an observational study.
Patients in adult psychiatric wards present infectious complications or pathologies that mimic an infectious condition, and there is little information on this subject. ⋯ Patients in psychiatric hospitalization wards suffer from a great diversity of infectious problems during their stay with conditions that simulate infections. An antibiotic surveillance system can detect half of these conditions. The infectious diseases visits allow for advising or reorienting of the study and modifying the antibiotic treatment.

Case Reports[Percutaneous aortic valve replacement by trans-carotid approach: First case in Chile].
The indication for percutaneous aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has increased considerably in recent years, preferably using transfemoral access (TF); however, it is not clear which should be the preferred access in the event of contraindications to the latter. We present an 81-year-old patient with high surgical risk in whom a 50% obstruction of the descending aortic lumen was identified and so, a left transcarotid access was chosen. ⋯ The transcarotid approach has been the one with the best results in different clinical reviews and the one that has been presented as the second alternative to TF in established algorithms. We report the first transcarotid TAVI implantation in Las Higueras Hospital, Talcahuano, Chile.

[Clinical experience of using brentuximab-vedotin as therapy in relapsed/refractory Hodgkin's lymphoma at Hospital Guillermo Grant Benavente, Concepción, Chile].
Hodgkin's lymphoma is a B-cell neoplasm with a good prognosis but a poor response to chemotherapy in refractory or relapsed cases. Brentuximab-vedotin is an anti-CD30 monoclonal antibody approved for use in these cases. This study aims to describe the clinical experience of patients treated with brentuximab-vedotin through expanded access modality. ⋯ brentuximab-vedotin is an outpatient medication with low toxicity that can optimize the treatment of patients with relapsed-refractory Hodgkin's lymphoma.

[Humanization of Assistance; Building the path from the university].
The training of health students regarding good treatment and humanized care is essential; it is a quality benchmark in health care. The relevance of good treatment and humanized care should be consistent with the treatment students receive from teachers and clinical tutors, modeling humanized cultures. However, research shows the normalization of mistreatment of medical and nursing students. A Humanized Training Unit was implemented in a Chilean nursing school, which included promoting a support Program for students by their teachers between 2020 and 2021. ⋯ The Program is replicable to other careers and institutions, requiring time, disposition, and teacher training, which can be a limitation. The benefits evidenced by our study demonstrate the program's usefulness in promoting cultures of more humanized care in educational and health spaces.
