Road traffic fatalities among pedestrians, bicyclists and motor vehicle occupants in Sirjan, Kerman, Iran.
To analyze the crash and injury data in forensic medicine for years of 2004-2007. ⋯ In spite of reduction of road traffic fatalities in Sirjan in 2007, it is still one of the cities with high road traffic fatality in the world. These results underline the importance of preventive strategies in transportation, suggesting that different methods are necessary to reduce fatalities of various traffic participants.

Case ReportsComplex regional pain syndrome after surgery of complex metacarpophalangeal dislocation of the little finger: case report and literature review.
Post-traumatic complex regional pain syndrome type 1 (CRPS1) is uncommon and can cause the disability of patients. Complex dislocation of the metacarpophalangeal joint on the little finger due to interposition of the sesamoid bone is rare and was firstly reported by Pribyl.1 We reported a rare case of CRPS1 after surgery of complex metacarpophalangeal dislocation of the little finger. To our knowledge, this case has not been reported yet.

Combined anterior and posterior surgery for treatment of cervical fracture-dislocation in patients with ankylosing spondylitis.
To discuss the pathological characteristics of cervical spinal fracture complicating ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and the effect of combined anterior and posterior operation. ⋯ The study suggests that anterior combined with posterior approach makes the spine stable and relieves the pressure immediately. It is a reasonable surgical strategy for treatment of cervical spinal fracture-dislocation with AS.

ReviewCervical spine clearance in obtunded patients after severe polytrauma.
To provide clinicians with data supporting three different clearance techniques in the obtunded patients after severe polytrauma. ⋯ There are continuous improvements in both computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) techniques that increase their sensitivities. The continued use of plain radiographs is called into question with respect to cost and time requirements. An algorithmic approach to the evaluation of the cervical spine in the obtunded patients will lead to fewer missed injuries.

Rapid prototyping drill guide template for lumbar pedicle screw placement.
To develop a novel method of spinal pedical stereotaxy by reverse engineering and rapid prototyping techniques, and to validate its accuracy by experimental and clinical studies. ⋯ The authors have developed a novel drill template for lumbar pedicle screw placement with good applicability and high accuracy. The potential use of drill templates to place lumbar pedicle screws is promising. Our methodology appears to provide an accurate technique and trajectory for pedicle screw placement in the lumbar spine.
