Comparative StudyComparison of the new injury severity score and the injury severity score in multiple trauma patients.
To assess whether these characteristics of less misclassification and greater area under receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve of the new injury severity score (NISS) are better than the injury severity score (ISS) as applying it to our multiple trauma patients registered into the emergency intensive care unit (EICU). ⋯ NISS should not replace ISS because they share similar accuracy and calibration in predicting multiple blunt trauma patients. NISS may be more sensitive but less specific than ISS in predicting mortality in certain penetrating injury patients.

Posterior fixation and fusion with atlas pedicle screw system for upper cervical diseases.
To evaluate the feasibility, safety and efficacy of atlas pedicle screws system fixation and fusion for the treatment of upper cervical diseases. ⋯ Posterior fixation and fusion of the atlas pedicle screw system is feasible and safe for the treatment of upper cervical diseases, and may be applicable to a larger number of patients.

Ultrasonography for non-displaced and mini-displaced humeral lateral condyle fractures in children.
To evaluate the value of ultrasonography in non-displaced and mini-displaced humeral lateral condyle fractures in children. ⋯ High-resolution ultrasonography enable to reveal non-displaced and mini-displaced humeral lateral condyle fractures as well as to ascertain whether the cartilaginous trochlea humeri was involved. For these cases, arthrography or magnetic resonance imaging is unnecessary.

Clinical observation of particulate cancellous bone impaction grafting in combination with total hip arthroplasty for acetabular reconstruction.
To investigate the effect of particulate cancellous bone impaction grafting in combination with total hip arthroplasty (THA) for acetabular reconstruction in patients with posttraumatic arthritis and bone loss after acetabular fractures. ⋯ Particulate cancellous bone impaction grafting in combination with THA as a biological solution is an attractive procedure for acetabular reconstruction in patients with posttraumatic arthritis and bone loss after acetabular fracture, which can not only restore acetabular bone stock but also repair normal hip anatomy and its function.

Damage control orthopaedics in 53 cases of severe polytrauma who have mainly sustained orthopaedic trauma.
To discuss damage control orthopaedics in 53 cases of severe polytrauma who have mainly sustained orthopaedic trauma. ⋯ Injury Severity Score (ISS(90)) should be 17 in severe polytrauma patients, but in severe polytrauma patients who have mainly sustained orthopaedic trauma, the ISS(90) of bone and joint injuries should be 16. We recommend that primary minimally-invasive external fracture stabilization should be made for extremities and pelvis in these patients to avoid additional surgical trauma and that definitive secondary fracture care should be performed after medical stabilization for these patients in intensive care unit (ICU).
