Cardiovascular Risk Factors and Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Events Among Incident Cases of Systemic Sclerosis: Results From a Population-Based Cohort (1980-2016).
To characterize cardiovascular (CV) risk factors and outcomes among incident cases of systemic sclerosis (SSc) in a population-based cohort. ⋯ Patients with SSc are at >2-fold increased risk for experiencing a CV event compared with persons without SSc. Framingham Risk Score and American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association score dramatically underestimate CV risk in SSc.

Observational StudyCentral Obesity is Associated With Neuropathy in the Severely Obese.
To determine the prevalence of neuropathy stratified by glycemic status and the association between extensive anthropometric measurements and neuropathy. ⋯ Normoglycemic obese patients have a high prevalence of neuropathy indicating that obesity alone may be sufficient to cause neuropathy. Waist circumference, but not general obesity, is significantly associated with neuropathy.
