Rapid and safe airway management has always been of paramount importance in successful management of critically ill and injured patients in the emergency department. The achievement rate of emergency medicine inhabitants in airway management improved enhanced essentially subsequent to finishing anaesthesiology turn. There was a slightly higher rate of quick sequence intubation in the postapneic oxygenation groups (preapneic oxygenation 6.4%; postapneic oxygenation 9.1%). ⋯ A higher percentage of patients in the preapneic oxygenation group had a Cormack-Lehane grade III or worse view (23.2% versus 11.8%). Anaesthesiology turns should be considered as an essential component of emergency medicine training programs. A collateral curriculum of this nature should also focus on the acquisition of skills in airway management.

We evaluated the effects and safety of an alternative technique for rapid sequence intubation in children predicting to have high risk of pulmonary aspiration in this prospective, randomized, placebo-controlled study. ⋯ Sevoflurane based deep sedation with spontaneous respiration maintained technique is not superior to modified rapid sequence induction but can be an alternative technique for anesthesia induction for those predicting to have high risk of aspiration in children.

To investigate the value of Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE) and Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) risk scores for risk stratification and prognosis in female patients with non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS). ⋯ Both GRACE and TIMI were adoptable in clinical risk stratification and prognosis of female patients with NSTE-ACS at different age groups. GRACE showed better accuracy than the TIMI scores.

Combined use of memantine and acetylcholinesterase inhibitors (AChEIs) has shown improved outcomes in patients with Alzheimer's disease (AD). However, it is not clear which AChEI is the optimal for the combined treatment with memantine. ⋯ Huperzine A may be an optimal choice for the combined therapy with memantine in treating AD.

Silent mating type information regulation 2 homolog-1 (SIRT1) plays an important role in the progression and development of cancer, including breast cancer. However, the association between SIRT1 expression and clinicopathological parameters and prognosis in breast cancer remains inconclusive. To accurately evaluate the significance of SIRT1 expression in breast cancer, a meta-analysis based on published studies was performed. ⋯ Our meta-analysis shows that SIRT1 expression correlates with unfavorable clinical outcomes. We suggest that SIRT1 expression may have potential value in the pathological diagnosis and clinical treatment of patients with breast cancer. More studies are warranted to investigate the effect of SIRT1 on the survival of breast cancer patients.
