To compare the effects of general anesthesia combined with epidural preemptive analgesia with general anesthesia on stress reaction in the retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery. ⋯ Compared with general anesthesia, general anesthesia combined with epidural preemptive analgesia can effectively alleviate patients' stress reaction under retroperitoneal laparoscopic surgery.

To study the effects of dexmedetomidine (Dex) on cellular immunity during the perioperative period in children with brain neoplasms. ⋯ Dex given by a continuous intravenous infusion during general anesthesia may effectively inhibit the stress responses and reduce the inhibition of cellular immunity in children with brain neoplasms during the perioperative period.

Acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is potentially a life threatening emergency that needs prompt management to reduce preventable deaths. Symptoms like dyspnoea and chest discomfort often lack specificity and overlap with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Importantly, electrocardiographic changes associated with PE are reported to be variable with some ECG patterns mimicking ACS, posing problems in the differential diagnosis. ⋯ However, this ECG change is more likely to present in ACS. We herein reported a case of a 78-year-old man presenting with progressive shortness of breath on exertion secondary to submassive pulmonary embolism which was initially misdiagnosed as ACS due to diffuse T wave inversion in both precordial leads V1-6 and inferior Leads II, III and aVF. Here, we discussed the diagnosis of this case and reviewed the medical literature with an emphasis on the limitations of ECG for the differentiation between PE and ACS.

The aim of this study was to learn the current situation of surgical massive transfusion of death and survival groups in China, which could provide the basis for the formulation of guidelines on massive transfusion. ⋯ During massive transfusion, clinicians in 20 Chinese hospitals paid more attention to the infusion of fresh frozen plasma while making the infusion of red blood cells. However, they paid little attention to the supplement of platelet and cryocepitate. The average quantity of plasma and platelet in survival group were also higher than those in death group.
