Emphysematous cystitis is a rare condition in which gas-forming organisms produce gas in the bladder wall and lumen. We present a case of emphysematous cystitis with neurogenic bladder. The patient was a 78-year-old man who complained of dysuria and lower abdominal soft mass. ⋯ These findings were compatible with that of emphysematous cystitis. The symptoms were improved and the intraluminal gas had disappeared on radiography after treatment with antibiotics. We reviewed 20 cases of emphysematous cystitis reported in the Japanese literature and reported clinical characteristics of 21 patients including ours here.

[Giant schwannoma in the pelvic cavity presenting as renal failure: a case report].
A case of giant schwannoma in the pelvic cavity detected with renal failure is reported. A 50-year-old man was referred to another clinic with chief complaints of general fatigue and edema of the face and dorsa of the feet. On March the 4th 1994, he was hospitalized in the clinic because of renal failure. ⋯ Six months after the operation, he has had no tumor recurrence. This is a rare case of pelvic schwannoma which was detected with renal failure. We reviewed and discussed 56 cases of schwannoma in the pelvic cavity, including our case, in the Japanese literature.

[A case of post-biopsy arterio-venous fistula in a renal allograft].
We report here a case of post-biopsy arterio-venous fistula in a renal allograft which was successfully embolized. Percutaneous needle biopsy of renal allograft is performed when the cause of deteriorating renal function is clinically difficult to diagnose, and the pathological diagnosis obtained by it determines the therapy. ⋯ Arterio-venous fistula is one of the complications after percutaneous needle biopsy of renal allograft. Color-coded ultrasonography is effective to find it, and transarterial embolization should be tried first to treat it.

[A case report of spontaneous renal rupture due to arteriosclerosis].
A case of spontaneous renal rupture with subcapsular hematoma was reported. The patient was a 44-year old man complaining of a sudden left flank pain without any recent history of trauma. ⋯ Therefore, left total nephro-uretectomy was performed, and histological examination revealed hemorrhage and infarct due to the severe arteriosclerosis and intestinal nephritis without malignancy. Sixty-three cases of non-traumatic subcapsular renal hematoma reported previously in the Japanese literature are reviewed with some statistical analyses.

[Thromboangiitis obliterans of the spermatic cord: a case report].
A 61-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with a 8-day history of dull pain and swelling in the bilateral scrotum and bilateral inguinal region. Neoplasma of the spermatic cord was suspected, and bilateral orchiectomy was immediately carried out. ⋯ In such a case, surgical exploration is recommended, and a biopsy must be performed for a definitive diagnosis, but orchiectomy should not be readily selected. Our patient is the first reported case in Japan to our knowledge.
