Concomitant SLAP repair does not influence the surgical outcome for arthroscopic Bankart repair of traumatic shoulder dislocations.
Prior studies revealed the presence of superior labrum anterior-to-posterior (SLAP) injury together with Bankart lesions in some patients. The purpose of the study is to compare the clinical results of isolated Bankart repairs with the clinical results of Bankart repairs when performed with concomitant SLAP repairs. ⋯ Accompanying SLAP repair in surgical treatment with Bankart repair for shoulder instability does not affect the results negatively. Properly repaired labral tears extending from anterior inferior to the posterior superior of the glenoid in instability treatment have the same outcome in overall results as repaired isolated Bankart lesions.

Prediction of height increment using preoperative radiological parameters following selective thoracic fusion with alternate-level pedicle screw construct in Lenke 1 and 2 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis patients.
This study aims to derive a formula to predict post-operative height increment in Lenke 1 and Lenke 2 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients using preoperative radiological parameters. ⋯ The proposed formula of increase in height (cm) = (0.09 × preoperative MT Cobb angle) - (0.04 × FB Cobb angle) - 0.5 could predict post-operative height gain to within 5 mm accuracy in 51% of patients, within 10 mm in 70% and within 15 mm in 86% of patients.

In the first part of this article, we have discussed the pathogenesis, clinical presentation, diagnosis and classification of infection after fracture osteosynthesis with implants, termed here as osteosynthesis-associated infection (OAI). Prolonged antibiotic treatment is usually necessary. ⋯ These are non-operative treatment, debridement with implant retention, conversion of fixation, implant removal and suppression therapy. The decision-making process leading to each treatment pathway and challenging scenarios is discussed in detail.

To determine whether supplementary tibial graft fixation with a staple is routinely necessary for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstructions. ⋯ Our study showed that supplementary tibial graft fixation with a staple is not routinely necessary for ACL reconstructions. It confers no additional benefits when compared with the use of biointerference screw alone for tibial graft fixation but may increase the risks of symptomatic hardware.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of continuous interscalene block and subacromial infusion of local anesthetic for postoperative analgesia after open shoulder surgery.
This study compared the efficacy of continuous interscalene block (CISB) and subacromial infusion of local anesthetic (CSIA) for postoperative analgesia after open shoulder surgery. ⋯ The results of this study have shown that continuous interscalene infusion of bupivacaine is an effective and safe method of postoperative analgesia after open shoulder surgery.
