Low compliance with national guidelines for preventing transmission of group 1 nationally notifiable infectious diseases in Korea.
This study was performed to evaluate the compliance with, and adequacy of, the Korean national guidelines which had been recommended until 2011 for isolation of patients with group 1 nationally notifiable infectious diseases (NNIDs), namely cholera, typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, shigellosis, and enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli (EHEC) infection. ⋯ Compliance with the previous national guidelines for group 1 NNIDs in Korea was generally very low. Further studies are needed to evaluate whether compliance was improved after implementation of the new guideline in 2012.

Charlson comorbidity index is an important prognostic factor for long-term survival outcomes in Korean men with prostate cancer after radical prostatectomy.
To analyze overall survival (OS), prostate cancer (PCa)-specific survival (PCaSS), and non-PCaSS according to the Charlson Comorbidity Index (CCI) after radical prostatectomy (RP) for PCa. ⋯ The CCI was independently associated with both OS and non-PCaSS after RP, but the CCI had no impact on PCaSS. The comorbidities of a patient should be considered before selecting RP as a curative modality for PCa.

Diagnostic algorithm to reflect regressive changes of human papilloma virus in tissue biopsies.
Landmark indicators have not yet to be developed to detect the regression of cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). We propose that quantitative viral load and indicative histological criteria can be used to differentiate between atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance (ASCUS) and a CIN of grade 1. ⋯ We propose that a squamous epithelial lesion with AK of >20 and quantitative HPV copy number between 58.9-271.49 represents a new spectrum of subtle pathological findings, characterized by AK in ASCUS. This can be described as a distinct entity and called "regressing koilocytosis".

Case ReportsDexmedetomidine for rigid bronchoscopy in an infant with tracheal web after ventricular septal defect patch repair.
We report herein successful rigid bronchoscopy with preserved spontaneous breathing of a 54-day-old infant with tracheal web associated with previous ventricular septal defect (VSD) repair. We considered the use of dexmedetomidine in conjunction with intermittent ketamine from the following three clinical aspects. ⋯ Second, the patient was scheduled for rigid bronchoscopy, which is accompanied by brief but strong stimulation. Third, this infant underwent congenital VSD heart repair approximately 1 month earlier.
