Prevalence of Dementia in Korea Based on Hospital Utilization Data from 2008 to 2016.
Dementia is an important health issue in Korea due to its associated medical costs. Our study aimed to estimate the prevalence of dementia in Korea by analyzing hospital utilization rates. ⋯ Our results demonstrated that hospital utilization for dementia increased significantly from 2008 to 2016, reflecting a proportional increase in the prevalence of dementia. Korean healthcare policy must prioritize dementia treatment.

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement versus Sutureless Aortic Valve Replacement: A Single Center Retrospective Cohort Study.
This study sought to compare clinical outcomes between transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) and sutureless aortic valve replacement (SU-AVR). ⋯ TAVR achieved a similar 1-year survival rate free from cardiovascular mortality as SU-AVR and was associated with a lower incidence of complications, except for paravalvular leakage, and shorter stays in the ICU and hospital.

Delays in Intracerebral Hemorrhage Management Is Associated with Hematoma Expansion and Worse Outcomes: Changes in COVID-19 Era.
The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic disrupted the emergency medical care system worldwide. We analyzed the changes in the management of intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and compared the pre-COVID-19 and COVID-19 eras. ⋯ During the COVID-19 era, delays in management of ICH was associated with hematoma expansion and worse outcomes.

Alisol A Inhibited the Proliferation, Migration, and Invasion of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cells by Inhibiting the Hippo Signaling Pathway.
Alisol A is a bioactive triterpenoid isolated from the Rhizoma Alismatis. Previous studies have shown that alisol A has anticancer potential. In this study, we explored the effect of alisol A on the growth of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells. ⋯ Alisol A inhibited the proliferation, migration, and invasion of NPC cells by inhibiting the Hippo signaling pathway. Alisol A may be a candidate drug for NPC.

Nationwide Social Distancing and the Epidemiology of Severe Acute Respiratory Infections.
Nonpharmaceutical interventions (e.g., social distancing) are recommended to prevent the spread of respiratory viruses. However, few epidemiological studies have assessed whether social distancing in actual settings reduces the disease burden of severe acute respiratory infections (SARIs) in the general population. Accordingly, we aimed to assess associations between nationwide social distancing for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and non-COVID-19 SARIs. ⋯ However, seasonality was not observed since social distancing was initiated. Our sentinel surveillance data demonstrated a remarkable reduction in SARI disease burden and a change in seasonality following the implementation of nationwide social distancing. Accordingly, we suggest that social distancing could be effective in forthcoming seasonal epidemics of non-COVID19 origin, although the impact thereof on other aspects of society needs to be carefully considered.
