Sex-Related Outcomes of Successful Drug-Coated Balloon Treatment in De Novo Coronary Artery Disease.
Although drug-coated balloon (DCB) treatment is known to be effective for de novo lesions, the influence of sex on angiographic and clinical outcomes remains unknown. This study aimed to investigate the angiographic and clinical impact of DCB treatment in patients with de novo coronary lesions according to sex. ⋯ LLL was higher in women, but there was no difference in TVF between women and men. Based on multivariable analysis, the women sex was an independent predictor of higher LLL (Impact of Drug-coated Balloon Treatment in de Novo Coronary Lesion; NCT04619277).

Characterization of Ferric Chloride-Induced Arterial Thrombosis Model of Mice and the Role of Red Blood Cells in Thrombosis Acceleration.
The ferric chloride (FeCl3)-induced thrombosis model is widely used for thrombosis research. However, it lacks standardization with uncertainty in the exact mechanism of thrombosis. This study aimed to characterize thrombus formation in a mouse model. ⋯ Faster and larger thrombus formation is induced in a dose-dependent manner by a wide range of FeCl3 concentrations, but the stable thrombus formation requires higher FeCl3 concentrations. Mouse strain affects thrombus formation and stability. RBCs and their interaction with platelets play a key role in the acceleration of FeCl3-induced thrombosis.

The skin is the first line of defense of our body, and it is composed of the epidermis and dermis with diverse immune cells. Various in vitro models have been investigated to recapitulate the immunological functions of the skin and to model inflammatory skin diseases. The simplest model is a two-dimensional (2D) co-culture system, which helps understand the direct and indirect cell-to-cell interactions between immune and structural cells; however, it has limitations when observing three-dimensional (3D) interactions or reproducing skin barriers. ⋯ A microfluidic culture device called "skin-on-a-chip," which simulates the structures and functions of the human skin with perfusion, was also developed to mimic immune cell migration through the vascular system. This review summarizes the in vitro skin models with immune components, focusing on two highly prevalent chronic inflammatory skin diseases: atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. The development of these models will be valuable in studying the pathophysiology of skin diseases and evaluating the efficacy and toxicity of new drugs.

Medications and the Risk of Colorectal Cancer in Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Diseases: Use of the Landmark Method.
This study aimed to determine whether the use of drugs in the treatment of inflammatory bowel disease is related to the risk of colorectal cancer using a Cox proportional hazards model with the landmark method to minimize immortal time bias. ⋯ In patients with inflammatory bowel disease, the preventive effect of drug exposure on colorectal cancer varies depending on the application of the landmark method. Hence, the possibility of immortal time bias should be considered.

Clinical TrialA Deep Learning Model with High Standalone Performance for Diagnosis of Unruptured Intracranial Aneurysm.
This study aimed to investigate whether a deep learning model for automated detection of unruptured intracranial aneurysms on time-of-flight (TOF) magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) can achieve a target diagnostic performance comparable to that of human radiologists for approval from the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety as an artificial intelligence-applied software. ⋯ The present deep learning model for automated detection of unruptured intracranial aneurysms on TOF MRA achieved the target diagnostic performance comparable to that of human radiologists. With high standalone performance, this model may be useful for accurate and efficient diagnosis of intracranial aneurysm.
